Recommendation for video camera mount?

I second the I-OPort piece. But don't expect shake free from any mount unless you are able to run with windows up,and you don't make a habbit of clipping apexes!

I also have the Hama Universal Camera Mount...works like a charm.

i also have the suction cup mount that anytime mentions but after using it i reccomend the hama camcorder mount that Doc John n Powered bt Honda mentions because i found that with the hama it gives you a better line of sight ... the cinema supplies version i mounted on the glass behind the rear seat and found that it sits too high and the rear view mirror blocks part of the view from the cam. I also tried mounting this on the front inside windshield and found it impossible as the mount is too close to the window to allow clearance for the height and length of the cam....my dv cam is palm cam and the only cam that is smaller is a micro dv which would probably still have problems as the height of that cam is not much shorter then mine.

Here is a photo on the cam mount and a sample video with the cinema mount.

Well...

I don't know if you'd want to put the camera outside the car period...during a canyon drive. Too many things can fly around and hit the lens...and that would be a very bad thing.

The Hama suction cup should work on any non-porous surface inside and outside of the car including the paint (though I wouldn't put it there), but I can't see risking my expensive vid cams in that way.

I like putting the Hama mount on the rear glass (so I can see the dash) or the front windshield (to get nothing but road and a bit of hood). I bought Sony's 0.6x wide angle converter for my microMV vid cam, but haven't tried using it on the camera in the mount yet.

Granted the Hama is nice, BUT, can (or would you) do this with it?

This is the only draw back with the Hama...i wouldnt trust the suction cup for outside use....but the cinema mount is so strong you could pull out dents with it....and i challenge any normal person to try and pull one off after it is mounted... i also like the feature that shows how much suction there is on the cinema mount ......if only they could intergrate the suction cup from this onto the hama mount.
