I want to adjust my rear toe from 5mm toe-in to 2.5 or 3mm toe-in, is there a way to do it without getting on the alignment machine? Like, maybe in terms of how many turns?
there is a way to do it, but you will have to make your own alignment kit. That being said, the rear toe makes most difference in the car handling. I would use the alignment machine.
Toe change: 0.302 inches at the rim lip (18.25 inches in diameter) yields a 0.302 inch x 25.4 (mm per inch) x 25 inch tire diameter / 18.25 inch rim diameter = 10.4 mm toe change. Divide that by six hex faces per bolt = 1.74 mm toe change per bolt face.
However, as someone who has tried to do his own toe adjustment, I agree with Andrie... I would take it to an alignment shop. Assuming everything else is in spec, it should not cost much to only adjust the rear toe.
