I went to put on my rear license plate and noticed that one of the nuts (i believe they are welded on) was missing. I can't figure out the best way to attach the plate as i can't get behind the hole to hold a nut... any suggestions?

Find a new bracket off of wrecked NSX or buy a new one at the dealer.

How do you even go about removing the "bracket"? It's a fairly large piece of aluminum. Perhaps I'll just try to jbweld a nut on?

Doublesided tape????? This is no 62 Impala

Pulled rear plate off and looked, the top bolts go into the steel bumper reinforcement. The nuts are welded on the back side. I think you may just need the right size metric bolts. I think they are 6mm I would recommend stainless steel or plastic if you can get them.

What do you need to do to remove the bracket (I'm assuming that's the large piece of aluminum)?

Hmmm... looking at the picture it looks like the bubmper beam is the actual piece the top of the license plate bolts into. Is that correct? If so, I'd need to change the beam... could be too much work... the double sided tape is looking better and better

I've used industrial strength velcro...the 2" wide strips. Two six inch long strips will hold like super glue....

Apply the fuzzy side to the car and the hook side on the plate.

I've taken other cars with plates attached this way through the car wash and have been on one of my cars (parked outside every day) for the past five years w/o a problem.

The benefits of velco is that you can take your plates off when you need/want to. Especially the front plate. You have to look very closely to see that there are no screws securing the plate.

People that I know take both plates off and cover up your public VIN and you have a parking ticket free car for the day. It is too much trouble for DOT to impound it...so they just ignore it.

True Story.

I don't think I would try that on Ventura Blvd. or in downtown LA though..

They have nothing but tow trucks, and time on their hands.

Actually, those two areas is where "a friend" _precisely_ does it. Your results may differ though...

The tow trucks and such are contracted to show up at 4PM when the lanes go from 3 down to 2, reclaiming the parking lane.

Prior to those times DOT has their "goal", not a quota mind you, of 75 tickets a day. An impound will insure they don't meet the goal and they get no credit for an impound. Which is why you see a ticket on the car AND then it gets impounded.

The favorite streets are Ventura and downtown (Main, Spring and the numbered streets) to pull this stunt

//Of course, if everybody starts doing it: they will impound cars...but they seem to ignore a single car doing this....
