It's held in place by a retaining clip-can't eyeball it-can't seem to "feel" an end of it with a small screwdriver--how do I get it off? (I am replacing all the black panels with camel/tan). I know there's some special tool which it sounds like I will have to buy--any trick to do it without same?

IGNORE ABOVE--I have Sparco seats and by moving the seat all the way back I could see the retaining clip and was able to get it removed using a small blade screwdriver.....

wanna get rid of your black panels? i want to swap from tan to black. i'd offer up some of the trim and carpet, but it's pretty sad from previous owners' neglect.

Try pulling out the plastic latch a bit. If I rememver correctly, it does have some play and when you pull it out a bit you can see the clip. I think that is how I removed mine. I used a smally flat heaad screwdriver and pushed on against the open end of the retaining clip and it poped right now. If I recall correctly it took me a couple of minutes to figure it out, but it does come out.;)

Oops. Sorry, I didn't read your last post on the bottom. I'm glad you got it out.
