Today while driving home there was 2 accidents and the police redirected traffic through the worst streets possible. There was a manhole cover sticking up out of the road that bent the rear chassis bar. Is it possible to fix it or should i just pay the $461 for a new one?

depends on if your car is obscenely low or the cover was sticking up really high. I say take a picture of the manhole cover and then your damaged part in the car still. If possible drive back over, park over the spot, take a close up to show how the car is in that spot. File a claim with the city. In my town, some folks have gotten reimbursed by the city for bent rims by pot holes before.

Hi, Are you talking about the rear sway bar ?? if so I have one that I just took off my 98 that you can have for free as long as you pay postage, let me know as its actually sitting waiting to go out with the trash ..

I could be wrong, but I suspect he was referring to the extruded U-shape brace that goes around the bottom of the subframe. It is part #44 in the following diagram and is about the same price as was mentioned.

Yes that would be it. #44 Currently #2 on the e-link to acura online parts store.
It should be part # 50205-SL0-J00

Is the Coupe and T model diffrent?

Thanks everyone.

Look at the picture in post #6, All the info about applicability by year etc. is there:)

WHERE DO YOU GET A HANDY BOOK LIKE THAT W/ ALL THE PRICES AND PART NUMBERS? PRICES ARE VERY ACCURATE AFTER I TAKE MY 25% OFF OF THE ACTUAL LIST PRICE. ACTUAL LIST WAS 615.83 W/ DISCOUNT IT WOULD BE 461.00

Unless it is torn, just straighten the bar. There is no real strength lost if it has a minor bend that has been returned to the original shape.

No need to shout:):).

How about the home page of NSXPrime. The link is there. I would not 100% count on the prices though. There have been many changes since that book was put together. Looks like that version was a 1998 issue. Slightly vintage:)

Is that the actual part? The u shaped one, #44???? If so, I remember a member here who bought a nsx, drove it around for a while, then realized one day that his was MISSING when he bought it. He didn't have any negative side effect that he noticed, but who knows. If that's the case, bending it back would be ok......i think

Me, I'd try to make the city drop the dime. Their cr@p broke/bent a perfectly good part. For all you know, it might have thrown their rear suspension out of whack. Replace the part, get your alignment checked.
