I would expect 20% to do OK for a single run at an autocross. I would not do a full track event on pads that thin. Just do not do any more street driving than you have to before the autoX.


Changing the rears is relatively simple, but it does require more wrenching than the fronts. You will have to remove the parking brake cable from the lower side of the caliper to give yourself enough wiggle room to get the caliper off the rotor. Plus, you will need a caliper tool to rotate the rear caliper back into position before you can put the new pads in. You can find these little Rubic's Cube or Borg  type things at Sear's, Autozone, Northern tool, etc. Usually run around $10 and work with a 3/8" drive and extension.
