Really torn... NSX or Supra? (i've owned BOTH)

Hey, i've had 2 NSX's and
7 Supra's.

i am wanting to get ONE of the 2 and really
hold onto it for a long time

(been changing cars a lot recently)

I am wanting a NEAR STOCK
- PRETTY LOW MILEAGE

91-94 NSX or 93-98 Supra TT

Has anyone owned both like i have?

i just want to do this ONE LAST TIME

and i can't make up my mind because the cars are like
TOTAL opposites to me.

There are TONS of pluses for each, and not many negatives.

I LOVE the NSX Styling (exotic looking)
The HIGH redline - the smooth power - the rarity etc.

The Supra - i love the feel of the boost, i love the
turbo sound, they look and handle great too etc.


UGHHH - i know this is an NSX site, but
i want some ideas and opinions

(i posted this on Supra Forums too!) LOL

i'm driving myself nuts and want to pull the trigger when i
find "THE CAR"


which one?

Both are rare, great handling and driving and look GREAT!

NSX has the edge in exoticness, supra has the edge in
HP (easily modable) and NO mechanical issues with anything.

Both cars are great cars. Tough choice. I was looking to get a Supra as a daily driver, but the F&F movies made them hot again and they were no longer at bargain prices. My belief is that sports cars are emotional cars - I mean, you buy and drive them becasue you love them, not because they have towing capacity for your boat. So, when I have a decision like this to make, I ask myself "which one would I regret giving up?" Thats the question you need to answer - don't worry about power, statistics, etc - get the car that really moves you - the one you love and the one you will truly miss if you give it up. I see you have had seven Supras and two NSXs - maybe you don't have a problem giving up the Supra - you've done it seven times before. I'd say go for the NSX.

i agree....

honestly, every supra i sold, i've been like -
EH, i'll find another one.

but when i sold each NSX i've really been upset
(thinking, STUPID STUPID)
because they were both very very nice and well maintained.

i am leaning towards the NSX...

i don't care about 1/4 mile time like you said -

i've ALWAYS loved the Supra's - they STILL do something to me
when i see them,

but the NSX seem's to be the NEW ME

(less of the Ricer style and more into the EXOTIC "damn look at that" style)

You can't afford both? If I had my way I'd keep my Evo, buy a Supra and start saving for the Skyline GTR to come out. :biggrin: Maybe you can find a higher mileage supra and have the best of both worlds?

i really could do both...


say a nice low mile auto supra tt would only be $20000

and a nice 91 NSX for $30000

i just don't want $50000 tied up in 2 cars i never drive...

makes me feel like there is a better way to invest my money...

having a hard enough time ponying up the $30K this time around

PLUS insurance on both - personal property tax etc.

it adds up, and neither will be driven much.

maybe SOME DAY down the road,

but not now - when i'm 14 years old. :tongue:

Because honestly, if you're looking for the input of others to help influence your decision on how to allocate approx. $30K into a depreciating asset that I can't relate to you or your logic at all. Again, I don't mean to offend or flame you but seriously... do you need anyone's advice before you ask a girl out on a date? Then why the hell do you want our input on buying a car?

Other than the fact that the Supra and NSX are both very fast and built in Japan they're really not the same kind of car. I could articulate a thousand reasons why I believe that's true but I don't think it would help you in your decision.

Buy what you like and don't worry about others.

As mentioned, you need to buy the car that floats your boat. The opinions on this or any other forum will be biased. IMO everyone and their mother has a Supra. Maybe not all tricked and with tons of HP, none the less there are more Supras runinng around then NSXs. Which alone makes the NSX special. The average Joe on the street can't tell the difference between a Supra that's "Mom's" car and one with Twin Turbos. When you see an NSX driving down the road there's that special something in the style and looks. You've owned both, you need to make your decesion based on you own knowledge and feelings. I don't even have to drive my car, just seeing it in my garage makes me happy! And when I do drive - I know what floats my boat!! :biggrin: :biggrin:

ALSO, yeah i WONT make my decision based on opinions

but i'm asking this on both a supra and NSX website

BECAUSE

i want to hear the reasons why people love each car so much, and
maybe it will spark something in me that's like - YA know what,
that's right...

Like Supra guys make a good case for a car that has worry free maintenance and hauls some major ass with $1500 in bolt ons
while
NSX guys say the NSX is more of an exotic sports car,
with a race happy engine and the looks to make people go WOW!

i'm not having people make my mind up for me,
i'm just wanting to hear some ideas that might make me look
at each a bit differently because HONESTLY

i absolutely DONT KNOW which i want to get
and i want to get ONE or the OTHER - ONE LAST TIME

hmmm, that's going to be tough, since you had already own both cars...

Here was how I made the decision of choosing my nsx over S2000.
If I'm driving a S2000, will I be jealous if I parked right beside a nsx?? Will I someday, still want to trade the S2000 for a nsx?? Yes, and yes.

If If I'm driving a nsx, will I be jealous if I parked right beside a S2000?? Will I someday, still want to trade the nsx for a S2000?? Not likely, and maybe not.

and of course, at the time I have $10k on hand and need financing, so buying a newer S2000 is much easier and you know, the dread of the 15 yrs old car breaking down... But like someone said, what it comes down to, is the passion and your heart.

and please, this time, stick with your decision, will you? (your 2 nsx, and 7 supras status shocks me). Well, at least, next time, anyone post a comparison between these 2, we know who to ask :biggrin:

Do you track your cars?

The feel of the cars on the track I imagine are INCREDIBLY different.. maybe you should try that..

never drag or auto X either -

i HAVE done a few stoplight races in the Supras -

the 450 torque and 450 HP when the 2nd turbo
kicks is an AMAZING feeling! (bolt on's on the supra)

But then again, so was going 80 in 3rd gear in my 91 NSX

i dont and wont take either car to the drags or auto X

it will be strictly one weekend a month or so of slow cruising

I like them both too.
If you get an nsx I would go with a 3.2 it will be about as fast as a supra
maybe go with the 02 and up, cause it looks cool. If you do a supra find one thats not salvage or wrecked. I happen to have a red one with low mileage and no body or paint work done. All vin #s are in place call me 801-381-7251

yeah i'm really leaning toward the NSX

i've had so many supras, kinda getting burnt out...

but really regret selling my low mile one that i had.

i think the NSX gives me the "hell yeah, look what's
in my garage" feeling more.

it's definately more rare to me

Buy both!

It's funny I did not see 1 NSX locally for at least 1 year and in the last 2 weeks I've seen 3 91's Red, Black, and Silver.

Look to spend a little coin on rims and springs a rear valence though.
