Greetings All - question for you.

I am looking at the next company vehicle. I have owned a variety of performance vehicles in the past, but never an NSX. My choices are narrowed down to a new STI, used 993, used NSX.

The STI, from an everyday driveability standpoint, in our climate and from a capacity standpoint, makes the most sense and my CPA would prefer that option. I can live and work wherever - and drive maybe 3 x per week. I have a 4Runner and Outback for truly heinous weather and to leave at the airport, but my attitude has always been that a ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what ships were made for - if I can't enjoy it due to weather I don't want to own it. If I purchased an NSX it would be driven in all but snow and ice.

So, from your standpoint, that period of year when it drizzles from Oct - May, pulling into a parking lot for a Starbuck's, occasional slush on the passes, day-in and day-out, etc. - NXS - go or no go?

very depending on how you enjoying your car, in my first 2 yrs of ownership, I drove my car in almost all condition (except 2inches or more snow.) It handles very nice and brought me smiles. If you into modding the nsx, like most of us do, it will make the car less livable in everyday driving.

That's a strange choice of cars. If it weren't for track use, I don't think I would have purchased the STI. I can't speak for the Porsche, but the NSX can drive lots a miles (150k-200k). Unfortunately I haven't driven many in mine. Maintenance in the NSX is reasonable, but if anything serious breaks it still pretty damn expense to fix. I picked the NSX because Porsche and Corvette are a dime a dozen around here. I picked the STI because I needed a car with a back seat, could tackle the winter, would fit me with a helmet on, and has some credentials for the track.

If I were you, at the price range you're talking about, I'd consider other 4-door sports sedans-- maybe the Legacy GT or a used Audi/BMW.

Lots of guys drive the NSX in the winter. It's just that I think they're nuts.

Starbucks and NSX don't do well. coffee doesn't stay in the lap when you shift for 1st to 2nd. Seattle is not kind to cars that can't be seen through the side mirrors of most suvs. on rainy days.

lol

Yeah too many Escalades and Range Rover Sports around here looking right over the top of your NSX. They're too busy drinking their mochas and talking on the phone to bother looking over their shoulder before changing lanes.

survival tips: If you driving a nsx or miata or Lotus...etc:
Like people who rides bike;
Drive like someone wants to kill you any second. Don't let yourself boxed in. For the very same reason, you will rarely see me on middle lane...

I've had my NSX for almost 5 years and it's my daily driver. The only times I don't drive it is when it snows. :smile:
