Nope, that's how they look on the earlier cars without the perofrated inserts. The side bolster actually looks pretty good.
the way to tell, is to look very closely at the leather. The leather resurfacing people will spray on a black dye to hide the wear. So look for a slightly different texture on the surface, much like paint over-spray (slightly rough). If there were cracks, they would use a leather like putty to fill in the cracks.
so unless you really know what to look for, it is very difficult to tell.
