Random shooting or not?

My aunt lives in a well to do neighborhood outside of Denver. She drives a black H2. She was driving home one day after dropping her kids off at school. As she drove into her cul-de-sac she saw a guy sitting in an old car. She continues past and starts to pull into her driveway. She then looks behind her for whatever reason and the guy in the Accord rolls down his window, holds up a gun, fires one shot blowing out her back window and then drives off. Nobody else saw it. She wasn't robbed or attacked. No dirty looks where exchanged when she first drove past him.

What do you guys think? Is this totally random? I don't think he was there to rob her as he shot from the street and then just left.

eesh... wtf is going on now a days.

Probably just some thug who had a bad brake up with his boy friend.

Anyways, some people are losers. They dont work hard but expect the $ to come rolling in and only to be disapointed when they become broke ass lossers of the rest of their lives.

I would tell your aunt to pay more attention and get the lisence plate next time.

Hope she didnt piss some people off on the way to school cutting people off with her H2.

Ya it seems like he was waiting..... bad sign. Do they have enemies?

or he could be a serious enviromentalist.

I am glad for you that your aunt was not hurt.

However, you asking the above question will get nothing but widespread speculation - especially from PRIME members not from Denver - as to what was the cause. I understand your concern, but your questions are better directed to the law enforcement authorities. Not meaning any flames nor insult, just trying to redirect your questions so you get more meaningful answers.

Having said that, there is only one PRIME member that I would accept answers from on this topic. He is a police officer (detective, actually) however, he is in LA.

I understand what you mean, but I'm not trying to solve the crime. I will leave that up to the police that are there locally. I'm just wondering what everybody else thought about this. We did think that maybe she cut someone off in her car, but then dismissed that idea, because they would have followed her home, not be waiting there for her. How would they know where she lived? It just really stumps us that nothing else occured after the shooting. No neighbor came out and scared him off. He made no attempt to get out of his car. He just shot and left.

Giving Accords a bad-rep'...

Sounds like a case of scaring a potential witness. Perhaps the individual was en'route to committing a crime, or just had. If it was a totally random act, then it might've been a case of being under the influence of drugs/alcohol or even a gang-initiation task.

From the facts and information you stated, it appears that she may have been targeted for whatever reason. We don't have all of the facts.

True. This is all of the information we have at the moment.

There are some crazy people out there. Sometimes it would be really cool to have an RPG.

AK47 loaded & extra-clips taped on the stalk: $1,000
(Kalishnokov, not Chinese or Egyptian)

NSX facing towards the road while in the garage:
$25,000-75,000
(add $10,000 for entry-level F.I.)

NRA membership, firearms registration, and concealed carrying permit:
$250
(donations & pledges to fallen Troopers and officers welcomed!)

Living in the state ofTexas:
P-R-I-C-E-L-E-S-S

I'm for the most part a pacifist, one who de-escalates a situation, steps down, backs up, etc. when there is confrontation, tension, or potential of quarrel. However, the moment someone initiates an act in a life-or-death manner, they've drawn first-blood... and it ain't over till I do what I gotta do.

Sigh... crazy world. :frown:

Unbelievable. That guy appears to have no respect for firearms. :(

You've been playing too much TFC. ;) Any rational civilized person knows an m79 is far more compact & cost efficient. :D

Glad she's ok!!

It could be random, or it could be the H2 flashing "I gots crazy money", giving crooks ideas about robbing them.

That's one of the many reasons I daily drive a lowly Accord.

Hope they catch the crook.
We thought that too. The H2 is completely stock though. No crazy rims or anything. She doesn't even have the windows tinted. By I guess just having an H2 does say to the world that you have money.

...and you have been playing way to much Battlefield 2.

Me too and in this case what I would have to do is run like hell away from the situation. If someone shot at me out of the blue for no reason I think I would have pee my pants fear.

Through the statements given, there wasn't any attempt or action that would lead one to believe that robbery was a motive. Gang initiation-maybe? but need more facts. Attempted hit?-possible. Follow the money trail-who gains from her getting waxed? Vengence?-Ex-husband, custody battle, ex-boyfriend, ex-enployee fired, daughter's ex-boyfriend or current boyfriend. Need all of the facts, including interviews with complainant and witnesses to find out what happened.

(Let's rob the lady in the H2, is she ever going to open her door? damn, let's just shoot at her and drive off...another robbery foiled- doesn't make sense.)

Another possibility comes to mind.
There are some very vigilante minded tree huggers who may hate big SUV type vehicles for their gas consumption. Maybe there is a crazy guy or group that just goes arround targeting such vehicles

And Osiris, I personally favor HK firearms over all others.

That's a good point. I haven't thought of that one.

There are some radical tree huggers but they haven't crossed the line to attempted murder that I know of, yet. Acts of criminal mischief and vandalism are usually their cup of tea. Can't we all just get along...

Drug deal went bad

Just kidding, glad your aunt is o.k. time to get some bullet proof glass on the H2.

Back to the tree hugger theory. This wouldn't be the first time she was harrassed for what kind of car she drove. Years ago she had a sweet 280Z and later moved to Detroit. She got some much crap everywhere she went for driving a Japanese car that she sold it. Nothing like what happened here with the H2, but just tired of all of the comments, etc...

Here is another theory. Maybe she cut the guy off in traffic and doesn't even know it.
Maybe she was driving really slow in front of the guy and he could not pass?

just a thought, not trying to place blame.
