A guy in my car club has a WRX STi and was supposed to run some turbo'd civic down in Miami, but instead, we ended up running for an hour or so out on 27.

First off, he is modded. He has a downpipe, midpipe, Blow off valve, turbo-back exhaust and he's boostin 17-18psi instead of 14psi.

We ran a couple of times from a roll (first a 2nd gear roll, then a 1st gear roll). Results were almost ALWAYS the same: We'd be dead even and the only time I would pull is when he had to shift, I would pull about 1/2 a car or so.

We ran once from the hole, but I spin alot (a little wet) and he beat me. I did smoke him once out of the hole, but hte other two times, he beat me and I immediately came right back.

Now, alot of you might be thinkin "B.S" ...I didn't expect to be even close to this guy, but I was!! And....I have VIDEO PROOF!! Someone was video-taping it from his car and later from my car so as soon as I get them uploaded or he gives me the CD, I will post the .mov files!! :)

It was a great race!! That's a tremendous car with a nice sounding blow off!!

I have no doubt the NSX can beat the STI, especially once things get moving. Now, if he remains stock, it would be ugly for him.

So we have had the NSX ran almost against everything in this forum, huh.

Hmmnnn...if you beat him even once outta the hole in damp conditions, considering he has all-time 4 wheel drive, that doesn't say much for his abilities...so is this a fair test? My Bro's got an STI and though we've yet to find ourselves on the same road, that car is FREAKIN" fast, and seems geared for low-end torquey launches. At 300 horse, that's alot of car to overcome in a vehicle that isn't really set up for 1/4 mile racing...just my .02 worth

Well, keep in mind, that car weighs 3263lbs and makes 300hp (stock...he's modded).

My car weighs 2750 and makes probably close to 280hp.

I have wider tires and the mid-engine makes the NSX an easy and awesome car to launch!! The STi is sick out of the hole, but the NSX shouldn't be underestimated. And the part of road we went from wasn't wet (highly traveled during the afternoon, but not traveled at 2am).

And this guy can drive. He's grown up around cars. All this guy does is race and hook up his cars.

I honestly thought i was going to lose, and when I found out he was lightly modded, i almost KNEW i was gonna lose. I was damn impressed though.

Why does your sig say "STOCK for now" when it obviously is not stock.

How did you shed the 300lbs?

Not quite sure exactly...but I weighed my car in at 2700 and change (2725 i think to be exact).

I did have my passenger seat removed there and and less than a 1/4 tank of gas.

No engine cover, tools, spare, spare mounting brackets, floor/trunk mats, lighter rims, lighter exhaust, lighter springs and thats about all that i can think of right now.

I would be very surprised if those mods made your car 2700lbs. Are you sure the scale is accurate?

My car has these mods adn it still weighs about 2840lbs.

- 94 Coupe
- removal of all items you mentioned
(spare tire, tools, engine cover, etc)

- 17/18 TE37s
- Taitec Lightweight center-exit exhaust
- Taitec Kevlar diffuser
- TEIN Type-RA springs
- MOMO racing steering wheel with hub
- Recaro SPG seats
- Dali Harness bar with harnesses

The seats themselves should give me a 40lb advantage over your setup.

Good Story. I've had a humbling experience with a more heavily modded WRX. This guy looked bones stock except for the exhaust. He lauched it next to me at a stop light, I wasn't expecting it. I couldn't catch him. Next light, I had the chance to try, it was close, he started to pull away. Couldn't beleive it. Next light he told me all of his mods, wow. If we were running into speeds over 100 I think I would have had a chance. But it just goes to show you how deceiving some cars out there can be. Mine is a all stock 92'. I am perfectly happy with my car still, but I must hold back on the go faster parts.

Remember, the gasoline in a full tank weighs about 112 pounds. You can "shed" 100+ pounds just by driving the car until the needle is on empty.

Brian's car apparently weighs over 2800 pounds when he fills the gas tank.

Are you doing this on public roads, i.e. "the 27"?

There are risks with every driving condition, even at the track. I remember of a few stories that were posted on here discussing the same thing. I am not defending Brian, but, please donot take offense at one single person. I know we all like to step on the gas from time to time.

Hopefully you know that running at nder a 1/4 of a tank all the time is not good for the car. You end up sucking all the sludge and misc. crap from the pump that settles at the bottom of you tank, up and through the injectors and into your motor.

Actually a full tank of gasoline (18.6 gallons) weighs between 108 lbs and 121 lbs depending on the type of gasoline used.
Then it sounds like 112 pounds is a good estimate. :p

I have walked away from a e46 M3 in the highway. note I say walk away..but like Dom like to say in F&F winning is winning hehehehe. and my car is a 93 with 270 little ponies
