This also was a rain race in 2005. I had a bad qualifying, but made it up at the start.
Good fight with a race Integra and a fully race prepped S2000. In the second lap at Blanchimont I missed my apex at the inside so I went wide on the WET curbs on the outside. Speed was more than 200 km p/h. Big crash as a result:mad:
I had to go to the track hospital for a check up. But everything was fine. This was the first race of two that day. The second race started one hour after the first. So my crew and I had only an hour to prepair the damaged NSX (front was completely crashed). I started the second race without front bumper and no downforce. This video I will upload later.

First race

Picture taken uphill Eau Rouge just before overtaking the S2000 and Integra and 4 km before the crash:

Second race

Great vids! I felt the pain of hitting the wall in the first vid and the truimph of slipping by the P-cars in the second one!
Thanks for sharing

Seems like you are must faster in the dry than in the wet, you have bigger balls than most by running in those wet conditions. Nice win and to bad about the front end.

Armando

You appear to be an excellent driver. You handled the skid very well. The NSX rotates very well on it's center which is great for the dry but can be a handful in the wet.

Good luck in the future / thank you for sharing.

Gerard.... that was just awesome.... wow!!!

I will watch that over and over... that is some great driving. I need to know more about what you have done to that car. It seems to really run well. Wow... congrats.

Gerard, your pictures are really tempting me to buy another NSX and give it the treatment you now have, bar the crash damage of course :)

you d'man!!! but was that a scream I heard just before you hit the wall???

I'm very surprised there weren't more crashes in those conditions....

Great driving and video!!! thanks for making us proud:cool:

Thanks for the compliment. It was no scream but the tires. There were a couple of crashes. But they were all Porsches.

You are winning these races with 350K on that car?!!!

Please Gerard can you give a quick list of what you have done to the car? I see the widebody and hear the exhaust. I know you have a BBK front, MOVIT I believe, right? what else? Is the engine stock?

Man I thought there would be more damage when I saw that crash...

350km = ~218k miles... I believe Gerard's nsx is supercharged.

This is the list. It is not extreme I think. The Widebody is an update after the crash. I had so much damage, that I decided to make this conversion. After the conversion the NSX is even faster in corners than before. A few weeks ago I met a CLK DTM and a Mclaren SLR and they both couldn't keep up in the corners. On the straight they were a bit faster, but in the corners and on the brakes I was faster. This was on the circuit of Zandvoort.

Great weekend recovery and glad to see you were OK and amazing that you made the next race!!!! The end of the crash video is a great example why your should let go of the wheel at the lost point like you did to keep your hands and fingers unbroken!

Car looks great now!
