Racing jack question

I got this very nice racing jack for Christmas.

However, it only has a 2,000lb lifting capacity. Is this enough for the NSX? I know the car is only around 3,000lbs but when I was jacking it up - it felt really heavy and I was wondering if was actually exceeding the lifting capacity. Anybody know?

I would say unless you are planning on supporting the entire car with just your 2000 lb capacity jack, you should be OK.

Unless you are trying to lift the whole car which you can't do with a floor jack a 2000lb jack should be fine.

It's unlikely. When you jack up the car, you only jack one corner or one side of it. Even if you jack an entire side, half the weight of the car (1500-1600 pounds) is upon the tires on the other side of the car, not the jack.

The force needed to raise the car is a function of the distance lifted in each pump, and the length of the lift lever. This particular jack raises the car a relatively long distance (over two inches) with each pump and it looks like the lift lever is shorter than some - both of which can require more force to lift the car, making it seem heavy.
