Not sure if I believe this but...

As soon as the Mach 5 leaves the line, you lose consciousness for a split second. Everything goes white, as the sudden onslaught of intense g-forces overwhelms the senses. You'll come to with your eyes open wide as you find yourself already halfway down the drag strip (this may explain why Speed's eyes were always so big and round). You hit 60 mph in just over a half-second. The quarter-mile mark comes and goes in 2.7 sec. at 197.1 mph. Compared to a top-fuel dragster, the Mach 5 is faster off the line — thanks to absolute grip — although the dragster closes the gap a bit once it gets going.

Specs are unreal: http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/download/0408_rt_mach5_chart.pdf
And the fact that they achieved so close a 50/50 blance with a rear bias and a front engine vehicle.. is even more impressive.

You know these are fictional specs for a fictional car, right?

I always thought Speed Racer was a documentary.

Sacrilege! Hold your tongue, sir! Those are indeed factual performance specs from the vaunted Mach 5. But the OP failed to mention the saws, missles, jump actuators, or Bridgestone tire crampons.

Acura plans to produce a rival soon...something like the year 4010. ;)

I actually saw the original one at the Peterson Automotive Museum here in LA a few years ago. It had the saws fully extended. Not sure if it's still there. That same car was on eBay as well once.
