Could you share how to fix the antenna? Mine sounds like a machine gun when I step out the car, it makes 3 popping sounds! :D
Thanks

Antenna noise

Here you go. This is what was wrong with mine. When my antenna extended it made a long clicking sound for approximately four seconds and when it retracted it made an equally long clicking sound. The problem with mine was that the metal part of the mast itself was not extending fully and the plastic piece inside the mast was slipping on the gears inside the motor causing the noise (the motor runs for a specified amount of time regardless if the mast sticks or not.). I had to remove the power antenna motor assembly (pg 23-237 of the Acura service manual on the home page of this website) and then remove the mast from the motor assembly. Then I put the end of the mast in a vice and pulled with most of my strength to unstick the metal sleeves of the mast. I had 2 full sections stuck inside of each other which is why mine made such a long clicking noise. Once I unstuck the sections, I fully lubed it with a teflon based lubricant and worked it by hand then I let it soak for a few hours. I reassembled it and it works like a champ.
The reason your antenna makes a noise when it retracts also is because the motor has a relay that runs for a specified time regardless of how far the mast actually extends. If your mast doesn't extend fully, the motor thinks there is more to reel in and will click on the way down also. My fully extended mast measures 38.5 inches from the chrome nut at the base of the antenna to the chrome knob at the end so you can extend yours and measure to see if maybe your problem is similar to mine. Some people have been able to unstick their mast simply by pulling on it after it extends and then lubricating it. Mine wouldn't budge which is why I had to remove it. Any other questions don't hesitate to ask. You might want to read my post under power antenna in the technical section for additional info. I would have put a link to it in this message but I can't figure out how.
