Quickie Q on Wheel Offsets

Guys,

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on the subject, but I'm trying to get some Konig Tantrums for myself, and have finally found (two separate) buyers. Two questions related to the wheels, then:

(1) One seller is quoting me the following specs: 4 LUG 4x114.3mm, 17x7 Konig Tantrum Racing wheels. Fits 4x114.3 bolt patterns. +40 offset

Not sure if this will work on the fronts for my stock NSX. I thought the NSX was a five bolt pattern? Could you guys provide your advice on bolt patterns, offsets, etc.

(2) Another buyer is offering to sell me 18"-ers for the rears (still trying to get specs from him), but he has them powder coated red. He says its easy to powder coat them back to silver. Is this true?

You are correct. A four-lug wheel won't fit.

You might want to review the "Wheel Tech" section of the FAQ.

The wheels will need to be bead blasted to get the existing coating off, then repowdercoated. Expect to pay $400+ for this.

Just curious, did you look at your car before posting that question? The 5-bolt pattern is pretty obvious with stock wheels...

Lud,

(1) Started travelling on business two days after I bought the car a couple of months on the road

(2) Am still travelling on business, and so have not had any time to spend with the car

(3) Don't have stock wheels

(4) Others on the forum have Konig Tantrums, and not having tremendous knowledge on wheels, wasn't sure therefore if Konig made both five and four lug wheels.

FYI,

The Konig Tantrums are fairly heavy wheels compared to other aftermarket wheels. They are cheap knockoffs of the Advan 7 wheels and are made in Taiwan.

I've got them on my Prelude, I went from some SSR Integrals to Tantrums, the Integrals were light but they bent easily, the Tantrums can take a bit more beating

but they were at least 2 or 3 pounds heavier.

A good 7 spoke "Forged" wheel is the GC-07C from Bridgestone/Prodrive, Science of Speed carries it, you might want to take a look, they are not cheap but they are much higher quality than the Tantrums and lighter as well...
