Will the NSX look weird with Wings West front lip without WW side skirts? Or should I install the sides too?

My reason for asking is because the WW material is rather "flappy" and not as stiff as OEM's fiber glass. Plus the cost of the paint job and installation is SKY HIGH for the bodyshop that I chose, that's why I'm having second thoughts. My car is at the shop now and they're gonna work on it tomorrow. If I don't want the sides done, now's the time for me to tell them.

If you've WW sides installed on your car, pleae tell me how they fit compare to OEM. For everyone else, just gimme a quick opinion. MANY thanx in advance.

This is another one of those "Some people like it, some don't", you need to pick what you like.

Here is an example of my car with the WW front, and not the skirts, it's up to you. Naturally the WW front looks a lot better from the front, but this give you an angle that is most important for determining how important the side skirts are to you.

Thanx so much for the quick response, your image is exactly what I need. I can now put it side by side with gheba_nsx's NSX :)

More opinions still welcome BTW.

The answer to your question is no, it won't look weird. There are quite a few NSXes w/ only the WW front lip, that's why Dali Racing stocks just the lips, but has to order the sides & rear spats. If you think you might want the skirts, it would be more cost & time effective to have the shop paint all the pieces at the same time (as the lip). If you decide not to mount the sides, there are tons of people who'd buy them painted or not off of you in a heart beat. Also, there is no factory part on the NSX that is made out of fiberglass. The factory lip & skirts are all plastic (ABS?) The WW parts are polyurethane plastic, closest thing to factory compared to other aftermarket parts. These pieces seem flappy, but once they are mounted & stationary, they are pretty rigid, yet give just enough on impact to be way more resilient than fiberglass. I say, go for it, you only live once!

In case you need to see another angle/color, here are some pics.

IMHO, it looks great with the lip alone!

I think the NSX looks better with the WW lip without the WW side skirts (like Jeff's car at Road America this past weekend) than with the WW lip with the WW side skirts.

I have the WW sides only and i really like it. I'm in the process of putting the Lip and rear spats on in a week or so. I really like how it adds a little bit more styling to it.

Yes, the Urethane parts appear extremely flexible when un-mounted, however that is no different to how a stock bumper is when you take it out of the box either. Once they are mounted, there should be minimal flex if mounted appropriately.
I know Gheba went through the same dilemma & we traded many e-mails before he decided to go for it - I think you can recognize from his posts that he is delighted with his choice.
I can send you an installation guide for the skirts if you want to mount yourself to save a few $$, ifyou have the shop just shoot them for you.

I like D'Ecosse's car with the side skirts than without in the above pics. Without the skirts the car just looks too lean in the middle. The skirts complete the aggressive, low profile aftermarket look.

I think it looks more "complete" with the side skirts and gives it a lower profile......

another color and different angles....

D'Ecosse,
i am thinking(seriously)about buying the wings west kit.does it come with fitting instructions?.if it does not could you send me a copy of the instructions so that i can pass it on to the body shop that will be doing the job.i would be very grateful if you could help me:D

Once again, I'm so glad to be in this community. Thank you all very much for your quick responses and information. I've made my decision to have the sides installed along with the lip, since I have them already. The only downside is the cost is gonna be doubled compared to only doing the front and back. Either way, my car should be ready by Thursday in hope that I can bring it over to my mechanic on Friday and get my intake/exhaust installed, too. I'll sure to post some pictures as soon as everything is done.

P.S. Jaytip, WW kit does come with fitting instructions in a clear packet along with bolts.

Mine is coming on Monday May 12, the install, paint job and warranty (lifetime) is directly from Wings West located at their install center in Newport Beach for $1024.00. I think the side skirts complete the look. Upgrading the rear valance to 2002 rather than get the Wings West rear splats.

The instructions for the skirts are marginal for the NSX - if you rely only on what they tell you to do, the results will not be as you would hope. There's not much to the front lip that can go wrong however.

Jaytip - send me your e-mail address again so I can forward instructions
