question re VTEC

I'm not sure how the VTEC is engaged @ ~4000 but if one is cruising such that the rpm's are in that range, will the mechanism put the car in-and-out of VTEC constantly? IOW, is this an rpm range (say 3800-4200) one should avoid staying in so as not to wear the engaging mechansm down? Thanks.

VTECH is engaged closer to 6000. Approximately 5700 - 5800. You should have no worries during normal driving.
