Hello everyone,
The time has come when I have decided that I am going to have my hood, headlight buckets, front bumper, and front fenders repainted because of chips. I am a perfectionist and I am concerned about taking the pieces to a painter that doesn't have experience on painting aluminum panels. Is there a seperate and distinct process that should be used when painting aluminum when compared to steel? Also, I am willing to spend whatever money it takes that have this done to look like it came from the factory. I am also willing to drive a far distance to go a trusted and proven painter. Does anyone know of a good painter within a 400 mile radius of Pittsburgh, Pa?

I believe there is a good painter in Chicago, can nsxtasy comment on this?

Thanks

The person I use paints antique show cars and street rods along with high end cars. Clients from all over the south east send cars and parts to him because he is also a perfectionist. He quoted me a price and stood buy it even though he had to paint it three times before he felt it was perfect(Silverstone). His shop is immaculate! I would suggest doing it in the winter because he doesn't like to be rushed.

AKUDOU,
That sounds like the shop I am looking for, where is his shop located? Also do you have a telephone number? Thanks for the info. Any other recommended shops??

Thanks,
Jeff

There are several good body shops with NSX experience in the Chicago and Milwaukee area. The one that is by far the best, IMO - also tends to be the most expensive, but if you're looking for perfection - is The Last Detail in North Chicago. NSXprime username SJJ 28 works there, so you can send him a PM if you're interested...

Agreed with ken, for perfection call Steve! My car is going in next month to have my rock chips removed. You get what you pay for, you won't be dissapointed.

ps- steve's number at the shop is 847.689.8822

Where is his shop and how can we contact him? Sounds like a great shop to me!

In London,Kentucky 38mi marker on I75. Randy Lewis is the person I am refering you to 606-878-6797. I talked to him today,we are going to a car show 35 miles from here tomorrow.. The Somerset Chamber Close the town down the last Saturday of every month for the car show. Last month 900 cars showed up and they are expecting 1000 tomorow. I will have the only NSX.

Sounds like you have some good leads. I am not sure if this is actually what you meant, but you said "taking the pieces to a painter".

I would not recommend this. Take the whole car:). If you remove the pieces you will crack the paint around all the mounting bolts and an astute perspective buyer, in the future, may be misled and think the car was in an accident.

This is the first thing I look for.

For excellent paint work near Phili:

Neshaminy Auto Body
10 Lincoln Ave.
Pendell PA.

215-752-8220

I think this is within your 400mi. requirement:) I had work done three years ago, in fact - hood, headlights, fenders all chipped up from age (1991) and the car is still stunning, no aging effects at all from the work.

Ask for Allen Cohn. NSX body specialists, know the car/paint/aluminum very well.
