Question for the automatic transmission gurus, ok here goes
1. bad shifting now in all gears
2. slipping
3. no real gear shifts

I took out the linear solenoid and performed the test it told me to using an ohm meter, im getting the correct value, it’s on the high end of the scale, but it also tells me to connect 12 volts to terminal a then b and listen for a click sound, this to me would be actuating the solenoid manually. Well I perform the test and I don’t hear any clicking sound coming from the solenoid? Took a jump pack clamped the negative on the housing and then used a jumper wire from the positive side and probed each terminal individually a & b, “no clicks” should I hear the solenoid click or am I not performing the test correctly? will this soleniod cause this type of problems ?

The linear solenoid performs the exact same function as throttle valve cables and vacuum modulators on older / other cars. It tells the trans ecu the potential for load (tourqe) based on map sensor and speed signal. It applys pressure to the throttle valve in the valve body, increasing or decreasing pressure to the various shift valves to keep the trans in a particular gear for a shorter or longer amount of time before shifting based on demand.
A linear solenoid malfunction will cause problems related to shift timing. I don't believe it can cause slippage at all. Not sure what you mean by 'bad shifting in all gears' and 'no real gear shifts' but this particular part will affect all aspects of shift points and shift timing.

Also, a bad linear solenoid will always throw a trans light and code, though I can't tell you the number as my book is not nearby.

Also, when testing the solenoid by the book, the clicking sound is very audible and hard to miss. Make sure you are getting good contact at the terminals as they are quite recessed and that the solenoid is grounded (installed) when testing.
