Question about the panels behind the seats

Yesterday before attending breakfast with a small group of NSXers, I noticed that the panel just underneath the rear window had come off. Upon futher inspection, I'm guessing that this had been removed when my car was being serviced, and not properly reinstalled (I had discovered the plastic pegs which secure the panel in place sitting under the drivers seat months ago and didn't know what they belonged to).

Anyway, I tried to re-secure this in place, but accidentally dropped one of the plugs behind the panel which has the magazine pocket (the one behind the passenger seat). I was wondering if this panel is secured in a similar manner. In other words, can I just pull on this panel to remove it? And do you think I'll be able to see and reach this little plastic peg once I do? Or am I going to have to get another one from the dealer?

Either way, I hate the idea of something just being loose back there...

Yes, the 2 panels behind the seats are also held in by those plastic pegs. You have to pull pretty hard to get them off. They also get bent easily when you put them back so be careful. (Dealer bent 2 of the pegs on my car... bastard)

I found that it also causes the panel pop out and rattle.

Interesting. The middle peg (which was still on the panel) IS bent. I'll try and be careful when replacing them so that more don't become bent. Again, I don't like the idea of anything being loose.

I also don't like the idea of pulling on something hard without knowing what I'm doing, so thanks for alleviating my concerns.

If you ever find the part number or a place to get replacement pegs, let me know. I need to order a couple

I had to replace those fasteners because I bent them too. I wen tto Acura and they wanted $6.00 each. I took a bent fastener to a local Honda dealer and got one that matched pretty well for $1.95 each.

Before you go pulling, you should know a little more info.

The rectangular trim behind the seats are connected at four places... one at each corner. The top two should be pulled straight back. The little plastic things are made to be removed and reinstalled in the holes they mate with. The lower connection points should NOT be pulled, however. Once the top two points are loose, slide the trim piece downwards to "unhook" the bottom two fasteners from the trim. You'll see how it works once you do this.

When re-attaching the panels, should I snap the plugs back in the holes and then slide the panel back in to place while attempting to line up the slots with the plugs?

Or is it easier to put the plugs in the panel slots and attempt to snap them into the holes once the panel is back in place?

Am I making sense here? I'm too tired to tell. All I know is that I dropped one of the plugs behind the panel when I attempted the latter method.
