Hey everbody. This may seem crazy, but my question is: How can I find out whether my car has a factory keyless entry system installed? I'm sick of using the key to lock and unlock and was wondering if I needed the whole system or if I could just order remotes. Thanks for any insight.

The control module for the KES is located below the glove box and just above the plastic panel of the pasenger footwell. If the module is there it will be laying loose or strapped to this plastic panel, if it is not there then the module was never installed and a new kit complete with two remotes can be ordered from any of the discount OEM parts dealers. If the module is there and the remotes are not it will get very complicated to order remotes as you will need the serial number from the module and hope your Acura dealer will assist you in contacting Kenwood to either match up keyfobs or send you new ones and help you program them into the unit.

Best of luck, you can look at the service manual or here (http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/DIY/keyless_entry.htm) to find instructions on how to install the module. If you get it working you may want to do the OEM Keyless entry MOD so your lights will flash when the system Arms/Disarms. http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/DIY/nsx-keyless-relay-mod.pdf

Hi Chai -

I see from your post that you have a 1994 Green NSX. If I may ask, what color is your roof? Green or Black? If your roof is black, what is the last 2 numbers of the VIN.

If you're curious why I'm asking, read this: http://www.nsxprime.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/006762.html

Thanks

Do you know of another Green-Black roof NSX?? Please email me if you do.

Thanks for the thorough and informative response DDozier! Very helpful.
By the way Litesokneecough, the NSX has a Green roof. Thanks again guys!

Lite,

Your obsession with 94 Green NSX's and their VIN #'s are too funny.

I have a '96' and I was wondering the same thing. Under my glove box I have a square hole with a with a 16 pin plug laying inside. Is this where the module is plugged in and installed? Do you think I had one but someone removed it?
