Would an interior custom shop be able to re-vamp the Bose radio/head unit?

The buttons are getting worn from years of repeated pushing. I'm not talking about the volume and tuner knobs where you can get an easy replacement. I'm referring to the numbered station buttons.

Any suggestions otherwise?

I don't think so...

Unless they refinished the surface of the buttons itself, replacing them is not possible really.

The buttons sit along a plastic strip that is fused to the face plate in the back.

I think your only recourse is to replace the face plate (which apparently you can't buy as a seperate part from the dealership). Therefore, you would have to go around hunting for a used one in good condition, or bite the bullet and pay 2000 dollars for a new one.

I am in the same shoes right now and am looking for a used one in good shape. If anyone else has any other ideas, I am all for it, as I am trying to get a resolution for this problem too...

If anyone out there, has a used OEM head unit they are willing to part with that is in good cosmetic condition, please send me a PM.

1. Try a good cleaning before replacement. Often the white part of the buttons appears to be worn but it's just filled with dirt. Get a soft brush and some Simple Green if you want to try it yourself but don't use too much fluid on your radio!

2. Contact NSX-part resellers like ERZ for used units.
