Proper Driving Position tips from Prof. Driver Billy Johnson

Typing in third person.....spooky.....thanks for the video:biggrin:

How is the visibility of the digital dash? I notice in the video that the FX car has it mounted in the stock gauge cluster spot approximately. I'm putting an MXL in my STI and have been trying to decide whether to put it on the column (close) or nestled in the dash (far). I've built a panel for the OEM dash location, but I'm worried that It'll be too far away.

The visibility is great. Visibility is relative to one's eyesight/ability to change its focus from close (dash) to far away (track). If you feel you will have problems, mount it closer to the steering wheel.

I adjusted my steering wheel as mentioned in the video today (I had never messed with the telescoping feature since I got the car) and man it makes a huge difference.

Halfway to work I remembered that I needed to try it and pulled off the road. The rest of my drive this morning was much better. I can actually sit back in the seat and drive instead of feeling like I'm hunched over.

Thanks!

Thanks, I will definitely try this. Since the NSX is laid out Ferrari-like, I always just drove Italian style -- arms straight out.

It is so much easier to drive a car fast while sitting closer to the wheel. An instructor at the first autocross school I went to told me about the wrist-on-wheel thing and it made a big difference.

That said it is still funny to watch the new folks each season try to maintain a proper gangsta lean while barely being able to stay in the seat..

I guess my driving position is good. Never thought about it before, but has always felt "comfortable". Thanks for the video and the confirmation on proper driving position.
