Problems installing remote entry :

After waiting to get the remote entry from Acura, it arrived and I tried installing it tonight. Hooked up the wiring up, was very straightforward (used the faq btw, thanks !)

Fast forward 5 minutes, after connecting the harness, and antenna, and reconnecting the battery, it wont open or close the locks on the car.

Any idea what could be wrong ? It seemed amazingly easy, but cant get it to work here.

Sounds almost too obvious ... but ... are the batteries for the remotes installed / good? Could be a problem depending on how long the unit has been in storage.
If you have a volt meter check them (supposed to be 3V) - if not try a replacement.

Considering how easy people have said it was to install it, youd think it was that obvious !
I havent checked the batteries, but the remote's led is lighting up pretty bright, and im only a few feet away from the brain. I doubt thats it, but ill check into it. Thank you for your input !

Is the key in the ignition? If so, remove it and try again.

No it is not. The entire key ring with ignition key, and remote were in my hand. Good input though. Thanks !

I had the same problem, but then realized I had the hood open. I closed both doors completely, and the hood  , and it finally worked.

Ojas - no luck.
Sambel - I think my hood was open when I was trying to arm the cars alarm. I cant imagine that it would interface with the hood sensor, but it could be. Ill try to reinstall it within the next few days to see if that will make a difference.

Hopefully thats it, ive been so frustrated with this oem system, and if i can get it to work ill be so happy !!

UPDATE !
Sambel, that was the problem !!!
I cant believe that in the instructions online it didnt mention that. How many other people left their hoods open from disconnecting the battery and then couldnt get their remote entry to work !! ?

Wow, thanks again for that post Sambel, I didnt know what to do next to get the remote entry to work until you posted that .
