primer color under paint

Does anyone know what the primer color is under the paint? Is it black color?

I think it depends on what color the car is finally painted...but here's an idea:

My 1991 black has white primer

I am looking at a car that I want to buy but there is a spot about 3" x 3" which the paint is gone, underneath, you can see a matte black color. The owner said it has not been repainted. Would paint just flake off under the sun? Just wondering....

My guess is that the clear coat has some how come off of that area (if the car is black, if not then idk). In order for this to happen though the paint would be in rough shape. Either way I recommend you take the car to a reputable dealer/body shop to get it looked over.
