Say we have two indentical cars in indentical condition.
One in snap ring range.
One not in snap ring range.

What is the norm for price differences?
Just trying to figure out if i should go for a deal on a 91.

Thanks.

I would guess somewhere between $1000 and $1500. Remember, you can have the preventive fix done for $2000-2500.

Also, make sure you check the tranny number. Roughly 80 percent of '91 cars were not in snap ring range. If the VIN is less than around MT002500, it was probably not in snap ring range (if the tranny hasn't been replaced).

Hey guys,

They certainly do exist! I have a 91, #1711, with transmission number 103707, which is in range!

baaaah... that darn transmission grove :)

It has the original clutch so I figure $2000-$2500 for the preventive fix + the cost of the clutch is $1500 msrp minus the NSXCA discount.

My 1st NSX had almost 90k until the snap ring broke... guess i'm up for another fix.

Why? Didn't they replace the upper tranny housing with one that was cut with the 1 piece tool to the correct specifications?

Unless they simply replaced the snap ring only - you shouldn't need another fix.

According to your sig, your car is #2711, not #1711. And based on your tranny number, I'm betting that your sig is correct... Am I right?
