Pre-purchase inspection shows split ball joint boot

Just had a pre-purchase inspection on 91 NSX and was told they lower rear ball joint boots were split and needed replacement. Can the boot be replaced or is it a whole ball joint assembly? Car has 67k miles. Any idea of cost?

If it were me, I would buy the ball joints (boots should be part of the joint), buy a cheap ball joint separator, then just do it myself. Make sure to get the car aligned afterwards.

Hey Mike C!!

Hope all is well with you.

Unforunately NSX ball joints are not sold separately, you would need to purchase the entire control arm, and they are big bucks. But.... you can buy the boots for about $12 IIRC.

These do take a special separator to get them apart so you can change the boots, not sure a cheap one will work. The not so cheapo one is about $120 or so.
