So I'm removing my bumper tomorrow for respray and the "search button" was no help. Is there anything special I need to know up front. I'm very mechanically inclined but good advice is worth a million. Thanks in advance.

not really - just be mindful of where the bumper meets the rest of the car.... be careful not to scratch anything.

make sure you get all connections separated before attempting to get the bumper off. sucker is heavy / awkward, esp with the washer tank still full (should probably empty the washer tank - i hate that they put it in the bumper.)

other than knowing it's heavy, it's pretty straight forward. good luck!

good luck. the body shop is gonna move my crushed bumper soon if you haven't do so i am gonna watch how they take it off and let u know.

The following helped me:
  • Service Manual (relevant pages attached)
  • In addition, I'd recommend putting some tape on the front bottom corners of the quarter panels to protect the paint when removing and installing the bumper.
Good luck!

I am not sure if you are attempting to do this alone or not.

But if you are alone on this, you might want to put a carton box under the bumper when you are pulling it off. Like said above, the bumper is quite heavy and very cumbersome. If all the bolts are removed completely, the bumper itself should pull right off. However, the studs on the corners are quite sharp and can easily damage your paint if you are not careful.
Other than that, the mechanical parts are not difficult to do.

The bumper hangs on the front of the car by two small hooks so carefully lift up when you get ready to remove it. The hooks allow you to remove all of the bolts and do it by yourself.

Completely remove the inner fender liners or they are just in the way.

Have the front of the car up on jack stands so you can get under the front to remove fasteners.

Remove the lower air dam before removing the nose.

Install a NSX-R chassis stiffener bar while you have the nose off. I made a pattern to cut out the radiator air director if you need a copy. I can e-mail it to you, or anyone else who needs it.

The fasteners that have a round center pin are removed by pushing in on the center pin to release the hold. Once removed they just reset. Be careful with them cuz they are about $2 ea.

DIDO on pump the winshield washer tank dry. Just disconnect the hose going to the hood sprayers and cycle the pump to empty the reservoir into a clean container.
