How long does the powdercoating on ROTORS last?? Does it offer superior friction/braking than "non-coated" rotors ??

I've heard of HPC coatings ( http://www.hpcoatings.com/appearance_coatings.htm ) which I think are thinner and more heat-resistant than powdercoating.

I think he means on the edges/fins of the rotors, not on the pad sweep area.

I checked this site out, very interesting stuff. Here is what they sent back to me...

Gary:

Thank you for your interest in HPC. The cost to coat brake calipers such as you have follows:

HiPerCoat polished aluminum finish: Front = $65.00 each, Rear = $55.00 each
HiPerColor: Front= $55.00 each, Rear $45.00 each
HiPerCrystal: Front= $90.00, Rear= $80.00 each

Be sure to also order a bottle of our HiPerWash cleaner. This spray-on and hose-off cleaner is neutral pH and safe for all ceramic coated, painted, powder coated, polished and chromed surfaces and easily cleans road grime, brake dust, dirt, mud, oil and bugs from your components. Cost is $12.00 for a 16 oz bottle. HiPerWash is concentrated and can be used full strength for really dirty jobs or can be diluted up to 10:1 for normal cleaning (I personally use either full strength or dilute 2:1).

Send a copy of this Email and the processing form from our home page link http://www.hpcoatings.com/processing_form.htm with your parts, the addresses to our U.S. plants are at the top of the form. Processing time is usually 3 - 5 business days this time of year. Expedites can be arranged if necessary. You will want to contact the Operations Manager at the facility you send your parts to for information and pricing.

Send in your parts via UPS, ground service is inexpensive and guaranteed. We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover as well as personal or business checks on C.O.D. for payment.

Email or call us at 800-456-4721 with any other questions you may have.

The pictures look great. If it is that good, it would be worth it even considering the price of the DIY toxic paint stuff.
