Was wondering if anyone has any experience with chrome oem rims. I want to powder coat them but first issue is to get the chrome off the rims. Any suggestions where to have this done? Thanks in advance!
Did you try searching the forums .. this topic has come up before and the consensus was that it was next to impossible .. they need to be chemically removed and there weren't a lot of shops that do it. My local powdercoating wheel guy said he couldn't do it.
Here's an example: http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showt...Wheels-Real-or-Relpica?highlight=chrome+wheel
To do it right you need to do a process that basically is reverse chroming. Some shops do it that chrome so call around. Sand blasting will not work on true chrome. Unsure how Acura makes their wheels but some wheels are just a cheap chrome paint or chrome finish without the under layer that's usually used underneath chrome.
