Can anyone fill me in on how to post pictures to the site.

First you need somewhere to host the pictures - IOW, a web site where you can upload them - your own, a commercial picture hosting site, some kind soul's, etc.
Then, you need to link to the picture using either html or ubb code. See the FAQ here and, in particular, this section.

edit: PS - sometimes Lud will host pictures if they are of strong general interest.
