Post New Year's Day 2004: Karting and a Drive

Guys,

As I mentioned in an earlier post and at the Applied Motorsports BBQ, I was thinking about getting together after New Year's Day for some GoKarting at Miramar Speed Circuit in San Diego. Other guys have mentioned a desire for a drive also, so let's make a day of it.

I had originally thought of making it Saturday, January 3. However, I was wondering what you guys think of Friday instead, January 2. I know some people are getting that day off too, so let's get some idea of what day works for you guys.

I know some of you are doing Willow the weekend before, but hopefully you guys will still want to toss the GoKarts around.

I'm thinking of either 12:00 or 1:00 Saturday. What do you guys think? I don't know about reserving time for us. Do we have enough people for a Grand Prix session? I was unable to do that last time.

Okay, here's the info:

Date: Saturday, January 3rd, 2004
Time: 12:00 Noon
Where: Miramar Speed Circuit

Going to their website, I noticed that 12:00 - 2:00PM is their daily Lunch Special. I don't think that will impact us too much. M-F it includes a sandwich, but not on Saturday, so the only difference at that time is a savings of $3 per run.

As for a Grand Prix, we need a minimum of ten participants. I don't think we have enough, so no need to set a reservation.

M-F Lunch special is racing and a deli sandwich for $20. Normal racing is $23. On Saturday, Lunch Special doesn't include the sandwich.

For you football fans, 12:00 should work out fine, since the first game doesn't start until 1:30 PST (Titans @ Ravens). Perhaps after Karting, we can head down to a place with the game on and have some lunch.

If its not raining then I am up for a drive before. I have to be back in OC at 5:00 pm. Otherwise, I'll be driving the Accord.
