What type of aftermarket HID bulb could fit the OEM 02 ballast socket? I plan to upgrade to 6K type when the current one fails.

D2S is the type of HID bulb for your 02+ lamps.
D2S are unshielded bulbs for projector housings.
D2R is a shielded bulb designed for reflector type housings.
easy way to remember
the R in D2R is for reflectors.
so the other one must be for projectors.
and of course you'll ask why.
D2R, shielded for use in reflector type housings, shields the useable light that may blind oncoming traffic and other motorists.
if you put a D2S bulb in a reflector housing, you'll blind other motorists.
D2S unshielded is used on projections lamps, because the beam pattern is projected/controlled.
if you put D2R in a projection lamp, you lose the beam pattern specs.

Thanks for the info. I'm new to this HID things. I just want to confirm before I order that the socket will be a direct plug to the OEM ballast.
