Hi Guys,

Just wanted to give you a headsup on a set of 2002+ wheels that are currently on ebay. :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/231012203507?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I have purchased this exact same set on the 7th of august. Paid $ 2500,00 via Paypal, As the amount was so large Paypal had me use a "E-Check". The E-check has cleared on the 16th.
The seller claims that he went on vacation for 10 days on the 14th. Then on the 26th i got a very odd message:

Hello Bas,
Sorry for the delay!!! But my Paypal account was hacked into transferred all my money out from my Paypal balance as well as my checking account linked to it. On top of that my garage was broken into taking everything to my cars. All my accounts have been put on hold till the police and Paypal investigates!!!
Again I very sorry, but as of now I cannot do anything further but update on progress and go from there.
I'm contacted you by this email as the police think its an inside job with Paypal employees (knew I was going on vacation). So I was advise not to use ebay or Paypal emails for now.
Sorry again and hope you can understand!!!

Today i noticed that there are a lot of "watchers" of the item, i've currently filed a Paypal claim against him and they are investigating. But i just wanted to give a headsup to you all.

So it looks like i'm still looking for 2002+ wheels if anybody has a set available let me know!

Best regards Bas

It definitely sounds like a scam. How the heck would a Paypal employee know that this guy was away on vacation. I'd ask for a copy of the police report or the phone number of the police department so you can verify his claims.

I hate scammers.

So let me get this straight. You buy wheels via ebay. Seller tells you they've been stolen and all his accounts are locked down. Then seller puts the same rims on ebay? I'd be calling the police in his jurisdiction to report this scam. That is, if you can actually find out what jurisdiction this assclown lives in.

The main problem is i'm based in the Netherlands so i'm left in the (hopefully capable) hands of Paypal's claim department. Just wanted to give you guys a headsup!

Regards Bas

Something funny going on here. Seller in the ad you linked to (ninjaturtlex20) has 3 pages of feedback on ebay...all positive. Of course it looks like the only thing he has sold before is athletic shoes. Why would he suddenly go rogue like this.

According to his ad, the rims are located in San Bernardino, CA. I wonder if paypal/ebay will go after him.

Thats why i wasn't "alarmed" when making the purchase. And like i stated it all could be true, but i'm a bit reluctand believing it after all excuses!
The only thing missing in is excuse list is being obdutec by aliens. And lets be honest would the police really advice not to use Ebay / Paypal.
It's his first overseas sale, that could also made him decide to go rogue, thinking / hoping i would not file a paypal complaint for another 25 days...

I have no idea if this is a scammer or legit, but from my own experience my paypal acct was hacked 3 years ago, and they somehow took over $4000 out of the checking acct that was tied to my paypal acct. I caught it within a day, and the bank got me straightened out, but it was a nightmare. So it is possible his acct got hacked, but the rest of the story seems fishy...

Sorry this happend. I tried to buy those wheels about a month ago. I sent the seller an email asking for his number so I could call him and discuss payment options. He never replied to me.

I live about an hour away from this seller. I, myself contacted the seller thru eBay and tried to set up a local transaction but it didn't work out. I don't know the seller personally but I was able to get his number if it helps. 323-547-6942

Hi Guys,

Well i'm currently waiting to get my money back, as paypal confirmed he did a runner. Thanks for all reply's!

Regards Bas

What ever happened with this? These wheels are still on eBay. They used to me mine and I sold them to r1uptempo in April 2013. Someone sent me a PM asking if the eBay auction was mine since they found my old ad and then I found this thread. The auction is using my old pics so who knows if they even have the wheels at all.

I think I had 5K in a paypal account then it was unavailable Paypal locked my account had to fight to get it back but it was an inside thing I swear, if the amount in your account is a large sum move it out quick, cuz something will happen to it everytime.

so I move 10 dollars out of my paypal asap so they can LOCK my account again. they already rip you off by making you wait days for your fund to hit your bank. which by law they CANT do they are not a reserve and have no authority to hold money, they then collect the interest off billions of dollars everytime you have money in there. its a huge racket.

I hate paypal but its all there really is minus the no name blokes like ethisify or what ever they are called.

that sucks, Macninja had thousands taken but he sent as a gift and had no recourse except the seller was in Miami and I am in tampa hint hint couldn't get the money back though I tried.

that's why you don't post your paypal account when selling something on nsxprime only send your account info to people when they PM you. that will weed out a lot of scammer trolling the forums

why cant the cops stop them now instead of investigating and letting them rack up million before they do anything. and all the victims are out money till the end of the trial

I'm not a huge fan of PayPal but I've used them extensively for years because, as others have noted, they're the only real game in town. Anyway, I've used them for literally thousands of transactions over the years and often had 4 and 5 figure balances. I've never had an issue. This is not to dismiss the fact that people do have real problems with them, but the idea that "something will happen every time" to anyone who leaves a large balance with PayPal is just crazy.

Exactly which law do you believe they are violating?

Police aren't particularly interested in this stuff, particularly when one of the parties isn't even in their jurisdiction.

I think its more the fact its not their money as such, they are there purely to connect accounts everywhere. Money is from one individual to another via wireless transfer, not to a bank..
