Stopped by a Porsche dealer on the way home from work last night, and there's this '03 Carrera in the showroom with a mid-$90k msrp, so I look on the sticker and it says "345 hp upgrade kit $13,500"

They did have a "discounted" price in the mid-80s, but still. I think the new Carreras are rated at 320 hp, so that's a whopping $540 per hp!! And I thought the John Cooper Works MINI Cooper S upgrade for $4,500 (37 hp) was too much!

Now, if that was 320 hp + 345 hp = 665 hp (factory tuned and warranty'd), then that would be a good deal! :D

The kit includes modified heads, mainfolds, camshafts, and control unit. I wonder how much that really improves things considering you can probably buy a GT3 for the same price.

If the Nsx had such an option...would people purchase it?

And I thought $3,000 for H/E for 30 HP was too much.

Anyone who does that to their P car has way too much money to burn.

The GT3 would be a better buy... if you skipped its 28K worth of options!!

that's porsche.

the 911tt has a optional X50 package that adds 35hp that they planned to sell $25k. well, Even porsche realized that might be a little steep. They instead sell it for $17500.

that's only $500 per horsepower.
