Porsche 997 Turbo vs Lamborghini Gallardo vs BMW M6 vs Acura NSX-R

I would like to believe that that is a realistic depiction of how an NSX-R compares, but I find it hard to believe that, against a 997TT, that the NSX-R does not get creamed, let alone post a fastest time that is extremely close and come out in first at the end of the race.

It does not seem right to me that with the exception of the start, no car seemed to pull on the straight on the NSXR.

Ive been down long straights in my CTSCd NSX putting down 360 and a stock M6, and Ill tell you that it is not even close which one has the fastest speed at the end.

Looking at this movies it looks like the driver in the NSX-R is really driving the seats of his pants while the others drivers seem to be taking it much more easy.
I can believe than on a racetrack the NSX-R is capable of holding its own agains the much heavier M6 (The new M5 proved to be slower than the NSX-R on the Nurnburgring) but it is indeed hard to believe that the Porsche 911TT and Gallardo are not faster.

In other BMI videos, Gallardo has beaten the NSX. 997TT.. if it is anything like the 996 TT, it is consider more of a GT, instead of a track car. It is ashame that the GT3 is not yet available when this race took place. If you watch the video, the NSXR is driven by Tsuchiya, who is like Gan San, very good with the NSX. The ending result was really based on the grid position, discounting the M6.

The tight track is the only reason the NSX-R was first. I think if the gallardo started first it would win, likewise with the Porsche. The M6 sucked.

If there was a long straight the 911 and G would have easily passed the NSX-R.

Now a CTSC NSX-R might be another story. :)

Hmm.. Yet another video from BMI with an expected result, not surprising.

It's proven time and time again that Tsukuba favors cars like the NSX-R(2800lbs) due to it's good handling and lower weight where higher HP cars like the M6(~4000lbs)/Gallardo(~3550lbs)/997TT(~3500lbs) won't be able to make use of their higher engine output and are penalized because of their weight.

If the same event were to take place at a different track like Fuji or Suzuka the end result would more than likely be different. Tsukuba is a very short track by modern track standards:

Don't take BMI vid's as gospel, they are only for it to make money and to make the Japanesse cars look good when possible.

BTW: I'm not Anti-Japanesse just being realistic..

The driver is always an important factor. Videos like this do not conclude one car is better then the other especially when specs show that one car is clearly superior and beaten by another lower grade car. IMHO

I by no means take BMI as gospel and it was blatanly obvious that there weren't long enough straights for the hp cars to do their thing. I would've thought the new 911 TT could match the NSX-R in the corners.

Besides the NSX-R didn't win it posted third fastest lap times. It was just in the first position. Fastest lap still wins right guys???????

I just wish somebody here had an NSX-R I could drive or ride in. I still can't believe that car ( NSX-R ) weighs under 2700lbs that performance boost alone would just be outstanding on the track. I mean the closest car to it's weight is the 911 at 3494 and that's almost 800lbs difference...incredible.

Only 2 drivers have driven NSX or NSX-R for BMI on Tsukuba that is Tsuchiya and Gan San both have hours and hours in this car. The NSX-R has an engine thats worn in. Whereas the other cars are being driven for the first time by the driver around the track I think that makes a difference. Also, Tshuchiya owns one and has a relationship with Honda so he has a point to prove.

Yeah, the 997TT is still more of a GT than a track car, but it's supposed to be faster and handles better than the 996TT.

BTW: You probably know this but just in case: Gan-San did a back to back drive on Tsukuba comparing the NSX-R with a 996 MKII GT3 a while back.

The NSX-R had a lower laptime because of the better cornering due to it's MR platform, gearing and better tires, Gan-San himself commented that if the GT3 had better gearing it would have had a lower laptime because of it's power advantage.

From what I understand the 997GT3 has a much better suspension (PASM equipped) than the 996GT3 so it probably has higher cornering speeds than the 996GT3. But it's still an Ass Heavy Car ;)

The official difference in HP between the MKII 996GT3 and the 997GT3 engine is supposed to be ~35HP on paper, but from the many dyno's that were done on the 996 MKII GT3 it was obvious that the "real" output of the engine was much higher than the 380~385hp that was being quoted, closer to 400~410HP so the engine was "underrated"

The gearing on the 997GT3 is not supposed to be that much different from the 996GT3 so that might still be a problem at a circuit like Tsukuba, where the GT3 engine might not be able to be in it's sweet spot of the power band.

In Europe the 997GT3 is being sold with MPSC's (Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, an R-compound tire) so that might be a factor as well.

It would be interesting to see how well the 997GT3 does at Tsukuba as well as the real track car from Porsche: the 997GT3RS ;)

P.S. All US bound 997GT3's are supposed to come with a sunroof, because they had such a hard time with the resale of 996GT3's in the secondary market because of the lack of a sunroof. Seriously... who buys a track car with a sunroof? What are people thinking???... totally lame :p
