Hey is it only me or what? In Road and Track as well as other mags. they list the 911s with about 355 hp and 295 torque doing 3.9 in the 0 to 60 mph. They also list a top speed of 190 mph so it is not just geared low. The car weighs in at 3200 lbs. So how can a car like this go as fast. My NSX with a supercharger has at least 395 hp at the crank with 260 + lbs of torque and I think it would be lucky to do a 4.5 zero to 60.

Seems pretty quick but it doesn't surprise me. Pcars acceleration is a function of where their engine is placed, gearing, and engine torque. I'm sure their is more to it...

I am sure your car is quicker 0 to 60 than your estimated 4.5 seconds, but unless you are racing from stoplight to stoplight the 0 to 60 comparisons are of little value.

My friend just took his 92 CTSC to the drag strip and ran a 12.7 @ 116. You should be able to hang with a 911 S. Mind you, he has a 6-speed and 4.55.

isnt the newer 911 S more like 3130 lbs at 355 hp?

i think that one would be hard pressed to pull a 3.9 with that power to weight ratio and only 2 wheels going?
that sounds more like a 911 Turbo numbers for 0-60?? anyone concur with this?

for 355/3130 i think something more liek 4.5 would be representative for the Carerra S

This was taken straight from the Porsche website:
"Powered by the proven 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine, which has an output of 325 hp (SAE), the Carrera 4 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h)in 4.6 seconds and has a top track speed of 174 mph (280 km/h). The Carrera 4S is equipped with a larger 3.8-liter engine that develops 355 hp (SAE) and accelerates the car from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.6 seconds and to a top track speed of 179 mph (288 km/h)."

The 355HP is for the 911 4S which is All Wheel Drive. Usually makes for better 0-60 times but they themselves only have a 4.6 second 0-60, so I don't know.
