Before we move any further on this, it may be helpful to understand where EVERYONE sits with respect to a possible affiliation to NSXCA.

Please dont just vote and be silent. If you have something to say, please say it.

My opinion is STRONGLY that we need to be affiliated with NSXCA. The infrastructure is tremendous and established. There are already many benefits with membership and honestly, we have much more to gain from NSXCA than we would from our own gig. We can put forward an effort to enhance value with membership, and I can see us doing just that. There may also be availability of regional funds to assist with our events and there is definately a very strong contingent of people willing to help us, under a common cause. Dont forget that NSXCA has all of the "overhead" taken care of - I dont believe that any of us want to get involved with membership collection, writing a charter and code, blah blah blah; NSXCA has that done already. Lets worry about the fun stuff and lets build NSXCA membership in Ontario and Canada.

If we went forward with an affiliation to NSXCA, EVERYONE who attends ANY of our events MUST be an NSXCA member. We will assume that anyone who votes here is stating that they will be involved with this group in the future, and if you vote for an NSXCA affiliation, I would also assume that you are either 1) already a NSXCA member; 2) signing up for membership now; or 3) comitted to becoming a member before we move forward with an Ontario'ish chapter (or whatever).

EDIT: The above is slightly incorrect. It appears that membership may not be required at all of the events. Those events sanctioned by NSXCA, and those will probably be the best events, would require membership. There are however likely to be events that will not.

I agree with the majority of your points and I also voted for affiliation with NSXCA. At the same time, I don't think it should be a pre-requisite that people be NSXCA members. We should certainly encourage it, but I don't think it would help the cause if we enforced it (unless perhaps it was an event funded by the NSXCA). Just my 2c.

Maybe I have misunderstood NSXCA's rules. I was under the impression that NSXCA sanctioned events require all attendees to be members.

Ive looked around and found this policy on Northwest's page:

"Membership to most events is not required but those sponsored by the NSX Club of America will require membership to attend. Non-members may participate but will be asked to contribute to the cost of the event."

OK - so it appears that not all events would require NSXCA membership.

That said, if someone wants to have casual involvement with our group, perhaps membership is not required as he/she could fade in and out of select events. I am not sure we need to consider the transient in these discussions. But if someone really wanted to do this, I can not see how membership wouldnt be a requirement (afterall, the best events will probably be NSXCA affiliated).

Right now, I think that we want to hear from those who are keen to do this; those are the people who are almost certain to attend the majority of events, which means they're almost certain to need membership.

Sign up anyways people!

I agree copletely.

Our "mission statement" should be focused and rely on regional events and maybe a couple of dealer & aftermarket discount affiliations.

Dues etc. we can leave up to the highly organized infastructure of the NSXCA.

It's up to you guys to determine how to structure your events; different regions and chapters handle various events in different ways. Membership is not necessarily required, but, as Arshad aptly notes, we should encourage it, especially when club funds are being spent on the event (so as not to spend club funds from member dues for the benefit of non-members). One way to accomplish this is to have different rates that depend on whether or not someone is a club member. For example, you might have a dinner in which the club subsidizes a portion of the cost, so that the per-person cost is $25 for members, $40 for non-members.

I'll be happy to address any specific questions you might have and to help in any way I can.

OK, my .02 time!

Assuming that NSXCA is willing to help us with $$$ - which will be most important when we're getting started (Stuff like the Biz cards with club info to hand out to NSXrs who are unaware there is a club out there, etc.) we should be making Membership manditory (especially since its less than $50 CDN).

But, that said, if an event is "shoot the shit @ Stu's place" and you bring your buddie and he doesn't even have an NSX (but he's A. cool, and/or B. brings some beer or his hot girlfriend as decoration:wink: ...) I'm OK with him not being a member.

For our own track day, it would be nice to have a $50 savings for club memebers vs. the riff-raff what better way to encourage membership?
