i have a 42" fujitsu plasma screen that i use as a tv (i use a vcr as a receiver). for some reason it doesn't seem to handle extreme contrasts very well... especially in skin tones. for example... if a guy is holding a candle in a dark room you can see a distinct line between the dark and light areas of his skin... does anyone know what i'm talking about?? is there a way to remedy it?

I think poor contrast is one of the inherent shortcomings of plasma TVs (as opposed to CRT tubes). I would recommend having your TV fully calibrated by an ISF certified tecnician (that may be a few hundred dollars however). They will also adjust the color temperature and grayscale of your set.

Have you talked to the dealer you bought the set from?

Keep in mind also, that the tuner in your VCR is not the highest quality source you can send to the plasma. How does it look on DVDs?

By the way, what model is it...4209, 4222, 4233, 4242?

its a 4209... i bought it years and years ago for an arm and a leg. its amazing how affordable theyve become. the contrast is actually worse when watching a dvd.
