Hi,

My wife and I are planning to visit Québec City and Montreal between 9/22-9/25 and I was wondering if my fellow NSX owners can give me any travel tips. My tentative plan is to stay in Québec city for two nights and one night in Montreal.

Are there any places that are must sees in both cities? Do you have any hotel/restaurant recommendations? My main goal is to sightsee, fine/causal dinning, and maybe see cirque du soleil if they are performing.

I attended Est Fest in May and some of you may know me by the Green Nsx from New York. It would be awsome to meet up with some local NSXers too.

Cheers,
Simon

Im in QC on Oct 1/2/3rd.

Spend your time in the Old City. It is gorgeous. I dont know about what touristy things there are to see in the area though.

I highly recommend Penache for dinner. Not cheap, but its great. Ive often been recommended Dominion 1912 as a hotel, but Ive never stayed their and I dont know anything about it. Chateau Frontenac is the default choice most of the time. I know Dominion is full when Im there. Maybe theyve got space earlier, donno.

Also been recommended Utopie and Le Clocher Penche and L'Echaude for dinner from trusted sources.

The Ottawa guys may not be too far out of your way if you want to add another city to the mix.

Montreal - awesome. Tons of great things to do there and no shortage of great restaurants.

I would echo BioBanker's suggestion.

However, I would probably spend one night in Quebec City and two nights in Montreal. Or, one night in Quebec City, one night in Montreal and one night in Tremblant.

Yeah, more to do in MTL than in QC, forsure.

I agree re Tremblant. My parents live there so I know it well. Just think that we put a proposal to have XPO 09 at Tremblant! We could all be there now had the Western guys not bribed their way through things! :)

Where are you crossing the border? Would it be too horrible for you to cross around Masina, head up through Ottawa to Tremblant and then make your way to Mtl and then to QC?

You have to travel through MTL to get between Tremblant and QC.

I live relatively close by and have visited Qc 2x in the past 3 years and Mtl countless times (last time was 2 weeks ago). Definitely the nightlife in Mtl is waaay better, but Quebec City is very historical, beautiful and romantic...might be important if you're going with your wife  Its like a cut rate trip to Europe. I'd stay at the Frontenac or the Radisson just outside the gates to the old city. Ask for a sunset view. Trust me, well worth it.

In Mtl...various jazz clubs and fine restaurants in Old Montreal. I like this place for steak: http://www.restaurantduvieuxport.com/ . There's St. Catherine Street shopping, Crescent St. partying, cool cafes on St. Denis. I like Jacque Villeneuve's restaurant, "New Town" for lunch. Neat little F1 memorabilia shop just up the street past Maissoneuve too. Also, Schwartz's Deli. (http://www.schwartzsdeli.com/ ) We normally stay at the Marriott Suites in old Montreal, just because we have kids (hey Dave, we'll be there Oct 3-5!), but when we were just the 2 of us we liked the Ritz, the Hyatt or the Delta on Sherbrooke.

I would also suggest taking a detour to Mont Tremblant...the drive is gorgeous, and stay at the ski resort. Huge pedestrian village, lots of fun activities and the ride up the gondola to the summit with the fall leaves in full blaze is breathtaking. Here's the map, and please note the twists!

in quebec, go to the restaurant Le Concorde it is a big round thing on top of a high building and the restaurant actually turns around so that when you are seated, if you stay there like 2 hours, your view went 360 deg giving an all around view of the city. I like the Cosmos for a great desert or a nice breakfast. I really like the restaurant Le Cochon Dingue also, great food not too expensive.

Definatly go in the old city in Quebec, that's the thing to do. Great city for shopping too but doubt an american will find great prices there :D

Tremblant is nice but if you don't go for the track or for the ski, there isn't much to do there... very nice view but still...

if you want something different and close to nature, spend a night at this place. It is in the middle between Montreal and Quebec. make sure you make a reservation though

they just rebuilt the road so it is perfect for a sport car, i beleive they had too many complaint from Ferrai and vipers owners :)

Thank you all very much for your suggestions! I will definally go to the old city in Quebec and it sounds like one night will be enough. I am sure my wife will appreciate the historical romantic town. :). We've been to Europe three times together but never made it to Paris, so "little paris" will have to do for now.

Tremblant sound very nice but I will probably save it for next time when I visit family in Ottawa. I don't like to check in and check out every day.

All the restaurants sounds fantastic and I can't wait to check out Montreal night life.

Again, I really appreciate all your help!

Cheers.

whatever you do, have a good trip. By the way, don't be too frustrated if you have a hard time getting understood in english in Quebec, most of the people there don't speak english. Shouldn't be a problem in Montreal though.
