So I finally got my Taitec GTLW. And now that it's arrived, I need to find a place to install it for me. The dealership won't do it. Does anybody know of a place near Santa Monica? And for this type of job, does it really require going to a NSX specialist or would I be okay taking it to an Acura repair shop or muffler shop? Proximity is a huge issue because the exhaust is not going to fit in the car, so I'd have to have my gf bring it in my SUV. Any ideas would be great. I'd prefer not to have to drive down to Laguna Niguel

I have 0 mechanical aptitude and was able to do it myself in a timely manner, in my carport spot, with 1 socket. I'm running a GTLW as well...... I put mine in without backing up the rear end on ramps because I was too lazy to run upstairs and get them, but if you have them it's 100X easier..... There's no point in paying someone $100+ to unbolt 6 nuts. It takes all but 10-15 minutes or so if you can get the back end up.

Laguna is always a good 2nd or 1st option as well...... I would've brought it to Ramon if I had the patience the wait the weekend (exhaust arrived on Friday afternoon).

Thanks for the comments. After getting under the car and breaking a socket rachet trying to get the bolts off, I gave in and took the car to a Midas nearby and got the exhausts swapped out. $75.

The car is definitely a shade louder now and really has a growl down low. 2 things I noticed though were that the tips were shifted about a half inch to the right of center and one side glances the bumper plastic at the top. I asked the manager about it and he said that there really isn't a way to adjust these things since the exhaust just bolts on. Stainless steel isn't something you can mess with apparently. You don't really notice the offset unless you're looking for it, but something I noted. Didn't know if anyone else had had the same experience with aftermarket exhaust. I'm hypothesizing that it may be due to the aftermarket headers as well.

Taitec exhausts are notorious for this problem. There really isn't any permanent way to solve this other than getting the tips cut off and welded back on. One way I took care of this was to go under the car and to tie zip ties (thicker ones) or stainless hose clamps (preferable) in between the exhaust hanger and the hanger attached to the car, and use the zip tie/hose clamp to pull the exhaust in one direction..... If you're lucky like I was your misalignment was "correct" and you'll be able to do this, otherwise you're pretty much going to have to do it the hard way.......

Cerritos Acura would do it no problem....give Jon Martin a call.

I had alignment issues with my tubi, but when I took it to the exhaust shop the guy just pushed and wiggled it in place. I totally felt like an idiot. Alignment can always be an issue when using the rubber hangers, especially is some hangers are slightly stretched from holding up 40 lb stock exhaust for many years. That being said, my GTLW fit pretty well and was easy to install.

I installed my GTLW yesterday. The exhaust tips lined up perfectly on center with the bumper. My problem was that I had a hard time lining up the exhaust with one of the cats. The removal and install took only 30 minutes. This is definitely a job you can do yourself.
