Went down to Buttonwillow on Sunday for the HPDE with Speed Ventures. The day was perfect and I had a good time at the track.

Met a fellow Primer, Ryan from Long Beach......

You got some pics of me in the car with Ryan!

We were behind you on the track in the 2nd to last session (in Ryan's car). Unfortunately you were never there when I stopped by and was hanging out with Ryan.

What suspension is on your car? It looked a little low for stock, but the car rolled quite a bit -need a little stiffer springs.

Hope you had a fun time, it's great to see more NSXs at the track!!

I am unsure who you are. What car were you driving? My car is using Bilsteins and Eibach springs.................perhaps the Eibach springs are too soft??

I had a good time and Ryan was kind enough to go out with me in my car and show me a few pointers.

I was instructing a guy in a silver S2000. I'm friends with Ryan and stopped by a few times to check up on how he was doing. I rode with him one session to give him pointers, and then drove his car in another session to show him what his car can do -as per his request. I do this for a living.

Anyways, I saw your car on the track, Bilsteins are acceptable street dampers for track use. Yes you can upgrade to a nice coilover (KW -for the price of most everthing else out there, or pay a few grand on top of that for Sachs, Penskes, or JRZ/Motons -which may not be much better if at all to the KW) but it probably isn't up there on your priority list. How often do you track your car?

Regardless without driving your car, it visually was rolling too much. The easiest, least expensive way to reduce roll is to increase your spring rate. You can do this by buying stiffer springs, or add stiffer swaybars -which would be much easier, not affect your ride quality, and would be a better fit which would also work on coilovers -rather than upgrading the springs just to replace them if you ever decide to change your damper setup.

Crashes like these are unfortunate, but they should not be a detterent to taking your car to the track. Buttonwillow only has 2 walls that can get you into trouble. Take it easy in those 2 corners, drive in your comfort level, and push it and learn your car and your own abilities in the safer corners. Get a good driving instructor and you'll learn in a safe way. But you need to use your head and not drive above your limits in a potentially dangerous corner (which happens all the time and ends up with a result like this).

Taking the picture down, modifying the picture, talking about the crash, etc... will not 'help' him with any false insurance claims or otherwise. The only way would be to delete any pics or mentions of the M3 crashing on this and every other car forum that people are on who attended that event.

Ohhh......I think I know who you are cause Ryan was telling me about his session with you when you drove his car. He said somethign about the NSX King drove his car and how it was practically a religious experience or something like that.

Thanks for the suspension advice. What is KW? I just bought the NSX in December and that was only my second time on the track with it and my first time on that track......but I had a good time and Ryan rode with me and gave me a few pointers that were really helpful.

Anyway I hope to get to the track more and perhaps one day I can get a ride with you on a track.

Roger,
It was a pleasure meeting you. I'm glad you had a great time. Thanks for posting the pics. I know it was only your second time with the car on track... are you hooked yet? I bought my car with no intention of taking it to the track. All it took was once and I got hooked. Hope to see you out more often. As I mentioned at the track, I suggest getting an instructor every chance you get. Billy Johnson is fantastic. I understand you are from Nor Cal. Another great instructor from SF is Andrie Hartanto. Here is his profile http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/member.php?u=3706

Billy,
Thanks again for the pointers. You helped me shave off 3 seconds in one session. Additionally, it was enlightening to see what my car could do with you driving it (and I know you weren't near 10/10ths).

That was good to get pointers from someone like Ryan. He is spot on with his line and is doing everything right, if you can have him ride with you again he'd be a good option. I just helped him a little with higher levels of driving.

KW is a suspension company from Germany. They are well-known in Europe and have won many championships and races (FIA-GT, LeMans, etc...). They are developing a double-adjustable coilover for the NSX very soon, and i'm working with them a little. They have a Shaker Rig (aka: 7-post rig) over in Germany, if you know anything about suspension, that is the equivalent of a wind-tunnel for suspension. The V3 double-adjustable damper by KW would be at a great price point (closer to the standard price offerings from Asia) and deliver performance of $6,000 Penskes/Motons/Sachs/Etc...

Of course. You did a great job, have good car control, natural talent, and great line. It was great working with you and I can see you doing some wheel-to-wheel racing VERY soon. Keep up the good work!!!
