Pics Drive from LA to Denver

That looks like a really great way to spend your tires!

How well did your fronts/rears fare over the milage?

The tires I am running are Toyo T1-S. The T1-Rs well probably be a better choice.

I however did drive 80mph most of the way and the curves were really fun to take.

Then when I neared Denver, we hit up with some heavy rain. The tires didn't fare too well then.

I'm open to some new tires that will do well on both wet and dry conditions. I don't take the car to the track. Considering trying some tires that will work on icy conditions as well.

The trucks passed me when it was raining, but I did catch up to them as soon as the roads dried up and the rain stopped.

My General Exclaim UHP are AWESOME in the rain. They stick better than my all seaon tires that I have on my truck. In the rain, they are worry free. I had to go through a downpour when I was going through colorado on my way out to california. I only had to slow down because of visibility from other vehicles kicking up water and watch out for deeper puddles not because of hydroplanning but because it'd pull the car to one side or the other kinda pretty hard.

Are they nearing the end of their lifespan? I have T1S's on my daily driver and find them to be excellent wet weather tires, not so good in snow though:biggrin:

i drove from fresno, ca to colorado springs when i bought my supra.. it was a very very boring drive but once i hit colorado it was such a nice view.. rocky mountains!!

i thought i was gonna run out of gas one time..

I think the only fun part of the drive is the section through arizona for 10 miles or whatever. But nothing beats getting the car down from almost 7,000 ft elevation back to cali where it's like 100ft or something, lol. Its like I got a 54 hp boost constantly on tap! 20-21% or so difference in hp!

Sad but true, I thought I was gonna run of out gas too! I gassed up in Grand Junction, CO and planned on refilling at St. George but I kinda blew through the last city in Utah, lol. Ended up putting in 1 gallon of cheapo at some run down place that sold only 87, but refilled up at mesquite. That was rather close... or it felt that way to me.

These are my pics just a month before yours. Only I was going from Colorado Springs, CO to Merced/Fresno, CA.

What you see is a traffic jam out in the middle of nowhere colorado, lol. It sucked, 3 hours or so. More like 4 hours sitting in that canyon because a semi flipped upside down and blocked 3 of 4 total lanes, even over the top of the median about 10-12 miles down the road. Traffic was snarled for a good 30+ miles.

I should have brought a fishing pole. Might as well gone fishing in the colorado river while I was there.

Opened the back to let the motor cool down some. Might as well since we're gonna be there a while. This is when the in dash DVD was a LIFE SAVER.

Looking south down I-70. Traffic was stopped down that direction at the back end for atleast 20+ miles from where we were.

Looking up north towards the accident which is over 10 miles ahead still
