Curious, I copied these pictures from recent posts on Prime and tried to delete the cross bar in the radiator opening. The reds are a before/after from a post in the Gallery today from Barrett-Jackson ..... curious how it was allowed to park in a fire lane!!

The look would be more aggressive albeit you can see all the guts left behind ...... The last one should showcase it pretty well. Can someone Photoshop a black radiator shield recessed a bit in the opening to hide the guts?

The Shine GT spoiler really compliments the more aggressive look, especially without the "A" Acura emblem IMO.

This is one of the earliest threads that I found out albeit most of the pics are gone!

This is the radiator mesh in two styles (street version smaller holes and track with bigger holes):

Here are some renditions; the first is on a black car and behind the cross bar ........ I looking at a version without bar:

This one mesh ifs showcasing the A/C shield but the owner painted the cross bar black for the same reason of having a cleaner look:

This one is too far recessed and behind the cross bar .....

These two have an aftermarket front with the mesh and license plate; the third is an 02+ again behind the cross bar ....

As I said, a black grille will hide the guts and look better IMO.

This is exactly what I am looking for. I've always thought removing the center beam will look better. But man that shine lip is really good on it. It seems like a lot of work for a body shop though, cutting and smoothing it out and all that you know..

I think it looks like one of those cars from the movie Cars, with it's eyes shut and mouth open.

I don't believe you can simply remove the beam, as it is part of the lower bumper, without custom fabrication. Here is one member's car (D'Ecosse) with the beam painted black:

The cross beam is a piece of plastic that seems to do two functions: (a) holds the outside air temp holder at the center where the vertical piece is; and (b) at best may give some structural support to the lower lip - but I am guessing.

If you look closely at several NSXs, you will notice that immediately to the right of the center, there is a dip in the cross bar perhaps due to pressure/weight exerted by the air temp sensor or design issues. I have seen this in almost all pre 02 NSXs!

The shield when screwed from all four sides into the opening should offer the same support id not more. But more importantly, it gives it a much fresher and more aggressive look.

Hey, I took that picture for Ken at a meet Acura of Stockton had for us a couple of years ago.

I agree that painting looks good if you want it to appear "open" in the middle of the bumper. Should be very easy for a body shop to do. Then back it up w/ a black radiator shield and you shouldn't be able to see the guts too easily.

Reviving this thread .......... a few years ago I read that one of the Prime members had a roll of the mesh used for this purpose purchased from Home Depot (I think) and was willing to sell a few feet at a time ...... if he is still around, please PM.

Anyone know where I can find such a mesh that will not restrict air flow? TIA.
