photo red light violation-any hints?

So I'm in no particular hurry heading home at midnite. I'm about 150 feet from the intersection, no traffic around at all except for a stopped car pulled off on the right side of the four lane one way street, I'm in the second lane from the left. Just as I pass the car pulled off to the side he nails it and takes off full throttle(a GS 430) passing me on the right as we are about to enter the intersection. I have looked over to the right to observe this, knowing the street turns to the left and narrows to three lanes at the other side of the intersection. I am not speeding in the 25 zone. I am right at the crosswalk when I turn my head back to
see it change from yellow to red and get the two flashes of the photos being taken. I would and could have stopped had I not been distracted by a potential accident heading my way. Does anyone have any experience in protesting one of these photo tickets ($340 and a point)? Anyone know a SF area attorney they would recommend?

Ouch, red-light camera sucks! As far as attorney goes, I would think any attorney who is familiar with traffic law could contest it.

I was nabbed in San Diego in the same way. The court provided a list of approved online driver's schools and I was able to erase the point but still paid the fine. It may be different for a CA resident.

We have them in Oregon as well.

Did you get the ticket yet? Just because it snapped does not mean you will get one. They are evaluated then sent. Did you get a copy of the picture? Is your face clearly visible? Plates, etc?

Sorry to hear it.

I've gotten the ticket in the mail already, with notice to respond by September 17. I put my front plate on a year or so ago to avoid getting a ticket for no front plate, but now I'm thinking the fix-it ticket for that is a much smaller fine, with no points. I've already used my traffic school on a 37 in a 25.

here in maryland they take a photo of the rear plate. you get a ticket but i don't think there is any points because they cannot prove who is driving.

who's to say you didn't lend your car to your neighbor? so whatever your neighbor does while driving, you would be responsible for??

hhmmm

my friend just got a red light ticket from photo in his 350z (corner of Westminster and Euclid) and he doesn't have front plate....my brother also got one (Westminster and Brookshurst) in his benz which also doesn't have any front plate either
so NO front plate does NOT protect you from getting these type of ticket

look at my NSX in 350z's front bumper :D

>>so NO front plate does NOT protect you from getting these type of ticket

What?! Please explain how they identify you or your car without the plate.

It's easy,
From the rear plate :)

Fight the ticket. When you go to court, who is testifying for the camera?

The judge will. It will be easier on the judge to make a decision whether or not you're guilty because he has actual photos in his hand instead of relying on "he said, she said" with a cop.

My mistake then. I heard something about how you can win photo tickets 100% if you fight it, because the cameras are owned and operated by a private company. If you start questioning specifics such as how many seconds the photo were taken after the light turn red or etc. If the judge says "I don't know", maybe there is some type of advantage for you. Don't take my advice as I'm not an expert in this field.

is my math correct

If traveling 32 mph, do you travel 36.1 feet in .77seconds? The photo may show that I've traveled less distance than the math works out to using the provided information. I would still like to get a referal to a SF Bay area attorney if anyone could provide one.
