On my way to work this morning, and a deer darts in front of me... I do a quick left-right with the steering wheel and I miss hitting bambi by about 12 inches. yipes

Let me first say that if I were driving the Odyssey or CRV there is no way I could have made that avoidance maneuver... thank you NSX! This is a bad area for deer, especially this time of year, I had a head on with a big buck 3 years ago in my CRV. I hit him going about 50mph, he went airborne then landed on my roof, then slid back down the hood.... very scary!

I installed those deer horns on my other cars, and so far so good. I believe they work. Now the question i'm debating.... should I put them on the X??? Since they just stick on, there is no need to drill holes, but they might pull the paint off if I ever go to pull them off. And, they aren't the best looking mod out there!

If you think they work then by all means slap those babies on! Given your CRV experience I would not take any chances, especially considering the shape of the NSX nose. If you hit a deer head on, I figure it would come right through the windshield and in your lap.

I have repaired many cars that have hit deer and had those little horns that are supposed to scare deer off. Upper NY is deer country.
Believe me deer have no problem hearing your car coming without those little things. The problem is where they run once they think they are under a threat. I believe they become confused because they don't know what the hell the sound of theses whistles could be and if it is a danger to them or not.
Think about it, it certainly doesn't sound like a natural predator they would know and it doesn't have a scent. If they stand still off the road and don't run in a panic you have better chance of avoiding them on the road itself. JMHO

I've done this once with a huge chunk of steel that bounced off of a big rig. I didn't see the chunk of spiraling metal until it was about 2 car lengths in front of my windshield about 6 feet in the air, I did a quick left-right dodge. I was like YES!!!!!

Track experience gives you the confidence to easily do that at 70mph.

I had a similar experience when some dumb kids were being vandalistic late at night... as I was driving down the street at 45 mph they threw a crate into the center of the road so I would hit it. I dodged it at the last moment... I bet they were shocked.

That deer must have fallen out of the sky!! But seriously, the front bumper and hood of the Durango look unscathed in those pictures. That's pretty wild.
