Rest in Peace Peter Jennings - died today of Lung Cancer.
Great loss to journalism.
He was simply the best in his field - will be truly missed. His calm articulate presentation, especially in dark times like 9/11 is incomparable.

speechless...

Damn. I'm really flattened by this. Peter Jennings was a class act and w/o comparison. I literally grew up w/ ABC news... all that CNN hype & cable news crappe' came a generation or two later (CNBC, Fox, CNN, Headline News, etc).

Evening news just won't be the same, even though he was away for a bit. Sad... :frown:

I always thought Peter was the best in the business. I was very sad to hear of his death. :frown:

I felt quite sad to hear the news this morning. I have always enjoyed watching him reporting ever since I came to the US. He will be hard to replace. :frown: :frown: :frown:

All cultures need great story tellers to prosper. Peter Jennings will always be one of the best story tellers in the history of the United States. His ability to keep your attention while bringing you the facts was unsurpassed. RIP. :frown:

It's a loss for our contry, as he was a mace of the country to many of us. I tend to not watch the news very often, but he was a class act.

Maybe I'll pick up his book from the library tomorrow...

RIP, Peter..you will be missed.

Even as a kid when all you wanted to watch was Mork and Mindy or CHiPs  I didn't mind watching the news as long as he was reporting it...I grew up with him as my source of world news...

His quick and untimely death should be a wake up call to all of those who smoke...I know it is for me.

God bless you, Peter and may you rest in peace.

I'd like to echo what the gentlemen before me posted.

I watched both of my grandfathers die horrible deaths from cancer even though both men gave up smoking more than 20-years before. It's a horrible way to go guys/gals and a terrible way for your family to have to say goodbye to you.

RIP Mr. Jennings. I always thought you gave a balanced view of the news and you had a wonderful voice for delivering the news. My thoughts are with your loved ones.
