When Peter Cunningham last raced the NSX at Road Atlanta, he won both the Touring and GT races that day. It was the Fall of 2002 and when SpeedTV showed the GT race, they showed an entire lap of Road Atlanta from inside Peter's car.

Does anyone have this digitized to their computer?
If so, please post a link to it.

I did find a couple of great pics from that day...

I have to ask this. Why isnt RT not racing the NSX anymore?

IIRC, Prior to 2003 season, ALL RWD cars in GT class must use spec 275mm Toyo Proxes RA-1 tire, regardless of make and model. In 2003 the rules were changed to allow Vettes and Vipers to run larger sizes which put the NSX at a disadvantage.

Well, actually, the RA1 became the spec tire for SWC in 2003. Prior to that, the Proxes T1-S street tire was the spec! Imagine the skill required to drive 500+hp race cars on street rubber... Anyway, the SCCA has always been very responsive to sponsor dollars from manufacturers. Audi was a contributor, GM, Chrysler, etc... Acura was not. The rules began to permit enhancements for the 'favored' teams, and PD was getting out gunned in the NSX. Since it was no longer competitive (the Audi RS-6 AWD/twin turbo was making much more hp than PD's SC'd NSX), and PD doesn't race for 'top five', he retired the NSX. I'm sure those of you paying attention have seen the RT TSX/RSX winning races now in touring...

Don’t forget about Nissan offering more money, and keep in mind that Peter was 80% done with a new and improved NSX for 2003.

Peter was also doing programs for Bridgestone (or some tire mfg other than Toyo) at that time, which might have something to do with his reply.

After riding around Road America in PDs SpeedVision GT NSX (the absolute most fun I've had RIDING in a car) I asked what he thought of the TOYO tires and he said "Well, they hold air." That didn't hit me as a ringing endorsement.

And, let's all remind ourselves that PD has/had no choice about tires... Toyo is the SCCA spec, related to sponsorship dollars. He was not fond of the the T1-S street tire... I had a similar conversation with him, and he said, "if you have a boat dock to attach it to, this tire would make an excellent bumper."

Hijacking

Thanks to everyone for hijacking my thread.
The Realtime NSX is long gone and who cares what tires they ran 3 years ago.

Does anyone have the video from the last race?
