Hello,

I have read the thread on the documentation and fees regarding purchasing and importing a nsx from the states. I am planning on picking one up. The price is around $30 000. I was wondering if any of you had any experience in regards to payment and inspecton of the vehicle. What is the best way to pay the seller and get the best rate on our dollar.

Thank you any help is greatly appreciated.

Chris

When I bought my car in the US, I did a few things.

1. I shopped around for the best US rate. It's different at each bank, and I eventually used Edward Jones (financial planners - not a bank).

2. I didn't wire the funds until I had a signed bill of sale contract (you can find them online that are legal in that state) and the ownership.

hey Chris, I just brought my 1991 over a couple of months ago. I had set up a US dollar account before hand and bought most of my us funds when the the can. dollar was around 1.035 us. I had checked out the car 2 weeks prior to picking it up, came to an agreement, signed a bill of sale, then wired him all but $5000.00 which i took over cash (you are allowed up to 10000.00 without too much hassle) and gave that to him when we did the actual exchange.
i think i got pretty lucky the previous seller was great, organized and really looked after the car.
I crossed at Port Huron and no issues crossing over.
